My yellow one has something similar to your flatbelly and with 1" retangular tube welded to it, it will bend when turtled on the belly, had to straighten it a time or two. Try it, if it bends you know what to do, as long as it doesn't pull the nutserts out of the frame you are ok
When I pull the skid to mess with the cat hanger I think I'll at least add one across the back, There's plenty of room back there to lay down a piece of angle. The front however... is a little harder, I may be able to weld in some sections but not one all the way across in one piece.

Brace as much as you can! My 1/4" flat skid is braced with several pieces of angle in the middle and is bent and twisted everywhere I didn't brace. I'll have to straighten it out and re-design this winter.

Mike were the leading edges bent to add rigidity? I'm not saying if they are then you don't need to brace, I'm just curious. It's surprising it would bend that much. After hearing you and Art... and knowing that this skid will be wheeled regularly... the next time I pull it, it's getting braced where ever possible. My rough country skid that I replaced was just ever so slightly rain bowed in the front, it did not have any bracing other than being bent on 4 corners. Surprisingly....

No, my skid is not bent on the leading edge. I have angle running across most of the front but like you I had to leave clearance for the cat and driveshaft. That just happens to be where its bent the worst though. The rear of my skid is bolted to the 4-link crossmember which is 2"x3"x3/16" rectangular tube, its not bending.

My skid is also skinned with 5/8" UHMW. It bent and snapped a big piece of UHMW off the front corner which sucks. I'll have to add more counter sunk screws on the UHMW when I straighten it.

Right on, I think the bent leading edge helps the situation, but I'll add some more wherever possible. When I'm trying to keep up with Art at the Hammers this winter I don't want to have to worry about it!

My 3/8" 6160t6 plate has 2 crossmembers and the angle going forward for the trans and engine skid and all that has held up very well.
Actually a flat plate bolted to a couple of crossmembers and the frame for the engine skid holds up very well.

Had to dedicate this morning to my truck! Between the wrenching and wheeling lately it's been neglected. I don't think it was ever as dirty. Anyone else neglect their other vehicles for their jeep?? She's nice and clean again now.

You should see my car it was white but its a light tan now and believe it or not the jeep is cleaner

I let my honda sit for the last 5 months because it had a crack in the radiator...just fixed it the other day so I could start DDing the jalopy again. This means the jeep will be getting the hartop treatment and some inner fenders soon.
