Or know a guy who has a ridiculously cheap (although long lead)laser guy.

I haven't done a bit of clean up to any of the parts I've received from him. That laser is clean & crisp.

Even if it's minimal deburring, with hundreds of parts the time adds up. Ask me how I know...I worked as a fabricator to get me through college. I truly hate grinders now

Keep up the good work !
I never realized that until I started playing with it. I think this set up can get better messing with speed and amps, but I probably spent 30min. cleaning up these 5 pieces. And for a potentially $40 part that costs around $16 in raw materials (the pull pin is $10) it just wouldn't be worth it. I could probably make 1 an hour with a welding jig. Factor in order handling time and well...... don't quit your day job!

Ya that's another issue...my laser guy is weeks out. Not worth the money or wait when you have 3 CNC turrets in your shop.

Even with laser parts I usually hit the edges lightly with a grinder...I've had people complain that they cut themselves on a lasered edge

Haha ! Ya when you start making parts from scratch you realize how hard it is to meet your desired price point. Let alone compete with Chinese prices.

You need a laser, I have a bunch of em

Not trying to highjack, I rebuild cnc lasers for a living, if you guys ever need anything cut, just shoot me a pm w/ a drawing. I am always looking for an excuse to do some top secret government work!

I'd get a quote from you, but shipping would probably kill me. The guy I use is 1/3 of the price as everyone else & he still ships it to me at that price. I think he's using child immigrant labor. I could careless for the price I'm getting.

I would love to play around with a laser machine. I'm going to go mess with this plasma and see if I can improve the cuts. The dross I'm getting is very hard, not like the kind people say should just "chip" off. I'll run some line cut tests and see....
