I'm planning on coming out to KOH this February and have some logistical questions.

I'm very familiar with southern CA. Is Santa Ana gonna be the closest airport to fly into ? I know it's not the cheapest, but I have friends I can stay with there before heading out to the desert.

Santa Ana definitely isn't the closest, but it's close enough if you have a free place to stay. I think you could fly into Ontario if you're looking for the closest to the Hammers. Art or Moabrubi may be able to better quide you though as I am quite a bit North of all that.

Ontario is closest, lax is about another 60 miles further west, then there is Long beach and Burbank. In the end it depends on cost of your flight and what time of day you arrive. 60 miles of stop and go traffic gets old fast

Got a few days off... gotta think of some things to tinker with on my junker. I should have ordered some parts earlier this week. Pretty sad re-spooling my winch line is the only thing I can think of.

I flew into Ontario and probably will again next year. Works out well and Art is right there near the airport so you can meet up with him and follow him out to the Hammers lol.

I hope to see you out there!

Thanks Mike. We are thinking of renting a suburban to camp out of for a few days...is the temperature gonna be too hot for that ?

No, it's definitely not hot, quite the opposite at night

It was really nice this year, in the 70s during the day all week except Friday it was like 40 and snowing in the distance during the main race

It's well known to and is a nothing out of the ordinary for JV to drop below freezing at night

When I showed up to the lakebed this year it was easily mid 30's for the start of the race with the sun already up

And it got to mid 70's during the day
