It all depends on what your end game is. If you plan on staying on 35's for atleast several years it's not a bad thing to do. If it looks like White lightning is going to get bigger shoes withing a year or 2 then don't bother.
By the way a guy on MJR was selling a complete JK Dana 44 rear axle for 200 bucks in OC county So Cali

Haha, Tate said he didn't know what he wanted for Xmas.... maybe he would like a JK Dana44??? That's a steal.

I'll be rolling on 35's for the foreseeable future but it's not an end game.

why do these axle discussions always get so long winded...let the man use his lp 30 and have fun doing it for god sakes hes run a d35 for years now

I knew it would go this route, I tried to be direct right off the bat. I appreciate the comments though, peeps make some good points but I'm surprised it's not more well known that I never take much consideration into what "other" people's experiences have been with things as I have found that MY experiences are usually quite different. Why that is... I have no idea and it also transcends the Jeep world into everything I do. It's just me seeing things differently than most people.

I think that's what differentiates us Art. Now having wheeled with you on your home turf I better understand your build philosophy, but my home turf requires much less clearance. Your rig on my trails would probably be quite boring. My rig on my trails is a good time. My rig on your trails is an absolute thrill. I have to maintain that balance.

It just depends what you get hooked on, you liked Moab, you got a cheap thrill out of some of our stuff. If we do this Utah thing or get you to come out for some Arizona excitement, you just end up coming back for more. Don't get me wrong I love some of the local put put trails for a quick wheelin fix. been enjoying the different kinda wheelin, easy run one week, fun Hammer stuff a week or 2 later makes for nice variety.

For anyone who's replaced their lower control arm brackets on their D30 what ones did you use??? I thought I had it figured out but now think that most of the cheap simple CA brackets are definitely for 3" tubes, not 2.5. I'm looking at Artec but hate that they have the cam bolt slots. I was thinking of just adding some weld washers to them.....

Get the artec brackets with built in skid not the cam bolts one. That's what I used for the rear and awaiting install on the front.

Hmmm, ok my only gripe is that they would need to be welded on angled down because they need to go right below the spring perch. If you look at any that are specifically designed for the D30 you'll notice they are designed to be welded on offset towards the bottom of the axle tube. Did you account for this?

It's also not listed what diameter tube they are cut out for.... I bet you it's 3". I guess I could make that work.

For the rear my link brackets are completely parallel to the ground. The front I haven't done yet but I get what your saying, I'll just cut the bracket to be more at an angle if it turns out to be an issue. I really like the brackets though.

God forbid, but a few years ago I used Ballistic brackets. They fit nice and allowed me to raise the arms closer to the center line of the axle.

They are the last place I would order anything from. Sad really, their products are better than average, their customer service way worse than abysmal.
