After what I did, you should at least carry shafts and a unit bearing

Lil 4 banger will get quite the workout so spare shafts will be a good thing to bring. I might just throw some ball joints and a press in the truck, just in case.We don't want anything to rain on our parade

It's good to have the stuff in the truck and be able to get to it, much better than having it sit in the garage 2 hours away.
Been there done that, TJ is a lame duck with a broke wing when the wheel hangs by half a balljoint, yet easily fixed when you have the parts.
I bought those a long time ago as insurance for my first Hammers run.
Nate your lil Jeep will have to work a lot harder than it did on Helldorado

Only thing I don't have is spare ball joints I don't think... I'll have to check. I'll pick up a cheap one of each. You're cracking me up though Art.... and not because I'm taking you lightly. But because you have no idea how much you emphasizing the difficulty level makes me anxious and excited to do it. I had months of anticipation to run Helldorado, and thought we weren't going to do it..... then when we arrived there was NOTHING that could have kept me off that trail. Little do you know... the videos you post I STUDY looking for lines and what I think I would do in certain situations. I take wheeling pretty serious.... and I take technical rock crawling very serious. I'm looking forward to this.

That's why we want the stuff to get us out of a pickle, so it stays fun. I have 2 nerw balljoints in my garage, just have to dig them out.
Funny thing is, you study those lines and a guy in front will spit out a 4 foot boulder right in your path and it changes everything.
Some parts of trails change dramatically. We did spooners once at night, then a few months later during the day and it looked the same , after KOH it was an entirely different trail. Some obstacles disappeared and others appeared. On Sledge one of the ledges became pretty much impassable so now you climb an offcamber hillside around it.
This lil ledge is now bypassed

Now you go this route

At that time you still could, but one of my buds, plugged the trail, broke his truss of the rear axle.
YJ tried the bypass, could not get up it, had to back down and head back on the trail. Took us almost 2 hours to get the truss back in place and welded back on.

By the way, I am looking forward also, will be a barrel of fun.

That would be crazy fun! I would be satisfied just watching! I live in ND and we have no trails. I own a built up CJ7 but I dont own a truck so its a pain to take out wheeling as the closest spot thats worth going to is 400ish miles away.

Why, Because if it ends up taking a Lil work to get him through sledge, lower big Johnson and claw would still both be really fun trails that you hopefully could just drive without issue and not have to stop. Not to mention all the option lines on claw you could do/try as well. Plus your not stuck in a single line trail all day in some unforgiving canyon if **** were to happen when it sounds like he has somewhat of a time schedule

Get the harder trail done early then go to as many fun more forgiving ones as the day goes on. Cuz I doubt he wants to be out there wrenching or winching when he is suppose to be halfway back across ca. That's why i suggested those after. IMO. They would not be a let down and still would be really fun

And let's face it. I don't trust any Dana 35 farther than I could throw one, Built or not. And I know this one has lived through some trails. But those jv undercuts and ledges are another story
