As I'm waiting for my tub to arrive, I'll be mounting the side armor on prior to paint, as it will be body color. I have a few questions about mounting.

Here it is..

I used POR-15 in the back side, Is primer enough on the tub side, or should I use POR 15, or another sealer under it on the tub side? How about running a bead of silicone around the edges before mounting? Lastly is there some type of seam sealer I can run around the the exposed edges, mostly on the top edges?

While you're talking loco...what about welding on the armor and touching up with glazing compound?

3M makes a really good seam sealer, it's like what the factory uses.

NO. I get it.
When I had my Jeep painted, I told the guy to make mine so that if I got tired of the flared fenders, they could be removed and you'de never know they jad been there. Problem is...he didnt get that part right but he did paint under them.

Here's a thought...sell the body armor and recoup some more cash to put towards the paint job. You don't need it - assuming scratching and/or denting will not be allowed anyway.

OK, I'll admit and state publicly now...No dents, mud or trail rash will happen on this jeep for at least 6 months. This will let me build up capital for a late model Z06 or a 48ish Willys overland pickup. My goal is to get this "purdy" then later down the road, lift higher with an atlas, 4-link and other funtional toy mod's....maybe...

My dad has an 09 Z06. They are unreal. I don't think you'll ever want another fast car if you get one of those. I won't knock you for taking it easy in this for a while. You might break stuff on concrete with all that power.

I thought about sealing mine also but was wondering if it my be worse as I would be trapping any mosture that gets behend the corner gaurds . I ended up just painting the body and the inside of the corner gaurds with the same top coat as the rest of the vehicle. Would like to hear more about sealing the corner gaurds though

Iv'e been watching your build, nice job, I'd love to have to have access to a metal shop!!

My new tub came in, the freight company jacked it all up.

This was a nice tub, it sucks the shipping company deceded it would be ok to put a half dozen dents in it....

Sucks about the the tub. Good thing it looks like most of the dents should bang out. Was the tub insured? Picture before it was loaded? We had a shipping company dump a 150K piece of equipment off a flat bed and did 30K worth of damage, good thing we took pictures. The company took their F$%^ up right where the sun don't shine.

I didn't insure it, but one should feel that it should expect it to come in the shape it was sent....

You would hope. Problem is everyone wants things done cheap, but want to get paid top dollar for garbage. Same with shipping companies, sad as it is to say.
