Next came my armor. All were custom made. Rockslidders made also of 3/16" steel that fit into the body mounts and They were made with m a little bit of space so that I didnt have to punch holes in the body and I can easily wash them out with a pressure washer.(pic#1and2) Oilpan/trans skid made outta 3/16" steel and 1 1/4" tubing. .(pic#3and4) Pic 4 is how my oilpan/trans skid mounts onto my transfer skid.
ALso had a radiator skid made. same 3/16" steel. Its beveled up to the underneath of the bracket where the winch mount bolts to, also to the right side of the frame. Could not find a way to wrap around to the left side of frame and still have movement and no rubbing. So I just didnt go that way.
New shocks, and different wheels/tires put on. Went to bangs canyon with Grakee99. Had alot of fun, It was the first time I went over anything taller then my tires and it crawled up easily everytime. Wasnt as brave as him to go down things. Just dont wanna flip yet untill I get my rollcage in. Not too worried about going up things though. Im just more worried about getting home then pushing my jeep to the limit.
Like I said its still just a work in progress. Still have lots more to add. New rear end. Prolly dana 44 or dana 60, depends on whats offered to me. Prolly 4.88 gears, lockers front and back.(not untill the dana35s outta there obviously) Im probobly gonna go with the highline fender flares and 35s instead of longarms and high cog. I also made a storage box for the rear after I took the rear seat out. Will have pics of that tomorow.
Looks awesome! Im jealous that you actually get to use yours, mine hasnt left the garage since I bought it...grrr maybe someday it'll be finished. Looks great though!
Thanks man. I had the same problem except I bought it and had to constantly work and then when I finally had time off noone could ever go. Ive done 2 trails since I bout it in July. So I know how u feel.
Tomorow im going to pick up my jeep. Had a guy switch out my front gears in the dana 30 to 4.88s, and swaped the rear axle with a ford 8.8 and 4.88 gears for $1350. Price was including Ford 8.8 Axle, gears front and back and all labor for it. I woulda done the swap myself. But for that price ill let anybody say they swopped it. haha.
That 6" long arm, Lockers, and 35s or 37s is getting closer.
