I feel like I'm always posting a couple events behind what's going on, but here goes:
Towing stuff back from NY was awesome and super easy:
Constantly amazed at the amount of room in that thing:
I had a picture of the full trailer, but I accidently didn't upload it.
Edit: Picture of the trailer
It was full to about halfway up, mostly with furniture and glassware. Technically they weren't supposed to rent it to us because of the softtop, but that's why we picked it up with my father's van instead.
Next: Relocated my third brake light to it's final/permanent location on the sport cage. I removed the bracket with the tailgate contacts that hit the contacts in the tub:
Then I spliced in new wires and ran it up to top:
This is how it looks now (except that I trimmed the zip-ties obviously):
Was home sick a couple days this week and got antsy, so decided to get a couple things done.
My windshield wipers were at the wrong angle from when the windshield was replaced and wiped all the way *off* the windshield, so I reinstalled those
When I reset my timing a while ago, I didn't have a new gasket for the distributor and thought "oh, it'll be fine". Well, it's been seeping enough to start dripping on the driveway and smelling like burnt oil every time I drive. Got sick of it and finally RTVed a new gasket in. Quick and easy, can't believe it took me this long to get around to it.
Next I tried to patch up my windsheld washer fluid resevior, as I can only fill it up like a third before it starts leaking everywhere. I tried JB weld and superglue, but it's still leaking. Suggestions?
I also topped off my coolant, which has stayed at the same level for almost 3 years and was now all of a sudden almost empty. Weeeeird. I'm going to have to keep an eye on it.
Next replaced a headlight that had burnt out. I had the set that got upgraded to the Silverstars still in the basement so I threw that in. Gatta say, for all the hype I gave the Silverstars originally, putting the old back in looks almost no different. Just a slightly different color temperature.
Also did some rewiring of the hardtop, as I didn't have rear wipers, rear fluid, or defrosters. Some of the connectors had broken, was all, so that's all set now.
So that's what's been new lately. I've been hearing a new noise after the transmission upgrade that I was afraid was the used transmission dying, but now I'm realizing that it's unaffected by engine speed, gear, or clutch so I'm starting to suspect something with the transfer case instead. I think I've confirmed that because I don't remember hearing it while in 4Lo today for the Jeep run.
Oh yeah, did the first 4Lo adventure since the swap today with NorthShore Jeeps. It was a fun run, nothing too epic, but definitely got some serious pinstriping and a good coating of mud. Pics should be posted soon!
