I went with an American Eagle aluminum jobby off of ebay- $160!!

With a 1" body lift, the 4.0 fan shroud, the 4.0 5-blade fan, and the dodge fan clutch, it fits PERFECT

I had the same thought after I built my stroker, "It ain't all that much more power".

What is the total cost of the swap at?

Yes! It's awesome I just wanted to get a vid for you guys, I've put about 40 miles on it and no CEL yet..

One thing I know for sure is that I need to regear. I'm starting off in 2nd at the stoplights because its got so much off-idle torque that its hard to drive, lol. 5th gear screams on the highway at 3k for 70mph, I feel like I need to up shift but I'm out of gears. I have 4.88s and feel like I need 4.10s

Really that's the really surprising thing for me is the insane amount of torque off-idle. It's wet out today and Its hard to not spin my rears.

I've been really nervous while driving it, as if something's going to catch fire or break or blow up, hehe- so far it's just gone a little [i]too[i] smoothly!

So far I've spent about $2,500, including the cost of the donor, but that's also including $200 for new brake lines, the Novak cable t/c shifter, $125 mopar head covers, por-15, paint, a new fender, and some other extra costs that a regular swap wouldn't incur. Swap parts alone including $900 donor car were less than 2k

That doesn't sound so bad, when I put $1500 into the stroker I built. (and it doesn't light up the tires all that easily)

I dropped like $4k into my stroker, spared no expense, and it was a big disappointment

So was the Ram PCM a direct swap or did it have to be flashed?

So with lots of used parts-donor vehicle a 2000 budget is well within reason?

Thanks for the quick response.

It is definitely within reason, if you do your own labor, build your own wiring harness, and don't have any bling pieces, like fancy valve covers.

I found low-cost reasonable parts to use, too- my conversion radiator was $160 off ebay, my headers generic Summit Racing block huggers, $250, my ecu was $85- I scored a flywheel/clutch/pressure plate for $40 from a junkyard in PA, and when it arrived the clutch and pressure plate were practically new- paid $75 for my bellhousing (people on ebay are trying to sell them for over $200!! wtf). Did NOT pay the $700 for the wiring work that some people are asking for- I just bought some loom, harness tape, and took my time and made my own that came out better than stock. Fabbed my own shifter and made my own crossmember adjustments- had a local driveshaft shop make me a new rear D/S by cutting down the front Durango driveshaft, rather than buying a new one, did my own exhaust... all of these things add up fast if you were to have a shop do them.

I have a spreadsheet somewhere with all of the part #s for things I purchased, and lists all parts I got from junkyards or took from the donor durango. I'll post it up when I get back from visiting Mom for mother's day.

Completed the engine bay by making an intake- simple 3" stainless tube cut & welded w/ a cone filter.

Thanks for posting and speaking about your experience with the stroker 4.0 - mine is dead and I have been waffling back and forth about stroking or transplant...

Looks awesome and I bet it will last you many years.

Very clean job -

I remember most engines with a manual trans having a metal plate between the bell housing and engine. Is there a metal plate that goes between the bell housing and engine? I have the bell housing, but no plate.
