I cleaned the tube real good. I could have done the gusset better. I did multiple passes. Thats why it looks bulked up. It really looks better in person. So far I have flexed it and did some hard clutching too, and it doesn't flinch.

I did like being able to start with a "blank slate" though. Put some rabid squirrel stickers on the hood and then went wheeling!

Been short on funds for the last month or so. Progress has been slow. I attended a truck show last weekend that our club hosted an awesome obstacle course. had a rock garden, cars stacked to climb over. several log obstacles, a frame twister section and even a shippng container with dirt piled against it to climb over. Anyway in one of the log obstacles pushed my front suspension to the limits and caused my front driveshaft to separate. also bent my drivers side front spring. This all happened due to the shackle reversal allowing the shackle to hyper extend and fold up against the frame. So I replaced the spring, and fabbed up this travel limiter. it still allows the axle to droop just as far but won't lets it pull forward, which is just wasted motion. I still need to do the same thing on passenger but the drivers has been the biggest problem for some reason.

Fixed my drivers side floor pan. Had a pretty good hole right in the middle.

I have to say, I have watched all your videos and followed your build for some time now. It looks like you guys are having a blast in every video. I also have to admit that I have gotten some solid ideas from the work you have done.

started my frame repair and outboard shock project. got quite a bit done, but ran out of shielding gas and steam. It was a very hot and muggy day!

Also gonna fab up a new rear bumper with a built in receiver tube. my old aftermarket trailer hitch always hung real low and hung up on logs and rocks!

Installed my drivers side outboard shock. Love the look, gives me 12.5 inches of total travel. Hopefully I'll get the passenger side done this week.

So I bought these 38.5x11x16 swamper boggers

But I know at this point my little D30 and D35 even though I have beefed them up are not up to this task. But the look of my rig with these tires has inspired me and I have purchased some axles that will be able to stand up to these.

I have purchased a ford 9" rear, 31 spline, 5:13 gears and a spool. spring over leaf mounting although I will need to relocate the perches. 65" wms to wms. to go along with this I have purchased a late 70's high pinion d44 ford f250 front axle. it wont have any gears in it but has a high ratio carrier and a lock right locker in it. It is going to come with the outer knuckles from an early 70's chevy so I'll be able to convert easily to ford 5 5.5 bolt pattern hubs to match the 9" rear. Both of these will be installed spring over. to give me just a scootch more clearance for the 38.5's! this is going to be an over the winter project and probably wont have them ready to be installed until next spring. So for now its back to the 34x9.50 swampers! darn the bad luck!
