So I ordered my shocks Sunday night so I was not expecting them until maybe thurs or fri. at the earliest. Well they got delivered today, unbelievable! So I felt obligated to work on the YJ some tonight!

Got the new shock tower sized up and burned on.

All painted up and new shock mounted.

Needed to do some test flexes of course. Going to need to lower the bottom mount to give a little more up travel. the shock bottomed out with about an inch to the bumpstop. so not a lot of an adjustment.

Tonight I relocated the lower shock mounting point. the shocks come with a mounting bolt I just cut the threaded end off and tapered the hex part.

I then welded this onto the back of the axle. positioned to get the shock straight up and down.

I lifted the front of the jeep off the ground with the winch (sorry no pics it kept backing down as soon as I stopped the motor!) But the droop on drivers was several inches more than passenger. at full droop the shocks extension was 13" and at full compression i had about 1" unused. so I got the shock centered about as perfect as I could have asked for. 12" of suspension articulation from full compression to full droop. Now that I got the drivers just right, onto the passenger tomorrow.

Thanks!

I did the passenger side shock Saturday.

Also picked up this jewel!

Tore it all down and ordered a few parts it needed. Gonna clean it all up and get it back up to fighting weight! Paid 100 bucks for it. bought around 200 in parts. Still need rope and electrics.

it was built on april 28th 1982!

Today I purchased a T5 transmission and dana 300 TC. actually got the entire drive line from flywheel on back from an 84 cj7.

Been shopping for a 300D (saving money to buy it too)

then I just need this, http://www.mercedesdiesel4x4.com/product_p/a-mb207.htm

Crawl ratio will be 95:1 with 4:1 kit in the dana 300. (4.03x4.0x5.89)
