My Lil Yellow TJ Build

So I figured I'd make a build thread. I have probably should have started this when I got my TJ back in May but oh well. I have taken tons of pics of it over the past few months and figure I might as well share the past, present and the future of my Jeep with you guys. I had always wanted a Wrangler since I was younger and I finally got one on May 9th 2009. It was a 2004 Wrangler X with a 5spd, 4.0l and had 68k on it. I paid $9700 for it and it came with a hardtop and a nasty looking tan soft top.

The first thing I did was take it over to my Fathers business and give it a good cleaning inside and out.

I also removed the X stickers as you can see in the above picture.

I went through and pulled out all the carpet and removed the console and gave everything a good wipe down. I had to get the old owner smell off of it

Next up came painting the hideous chrome grill inserts. I should have done the bezels at the same time but I was lazy. I just scuffed them up and gave them a quick coat of satin black paint. I had pics at some point of the process but I can't locate them as of now. I also pulled my Hella 500ff off of my Silverado and installed them on the front bumper on the Jeep.

I had now discovered Jeep Forum and the modding bug had bitten me!

Next I figured I needed some wheels and tires. I opted for the typical Crager Soft 8's and I went with BFG A/T 31x10.50x15. Looking back I should have done something more aggressive.I also painted the headlight bezels

We also took the hard top off and put on the nasty looking soft top for the summer. I took it for a spin with the top off for the first time and it was a breath taking experience and I was hooked haha.

And the nasty looking top. The duct tape was free of charge.

So anyways a week or so passed and I had been stalking JF and reading about protecting the tub from rust and other elements. I poked around a bit and decided Herculiner was the way to go for me. I had read good reviews on it and went for it. The process pretty much took me a few days since the Jeep is my daily driver. The biggest pain was the prep work. The liner its self went on in about 2 hours and then had to sit over night to full cure.

I pretty much drove around like this for a week. May 19th 2009

I had to do everything but the drivers side and wait until the weekend to finish it

May 21st 2009

Finally May 22nd 2009 I had it all done and just had to let it cure minus a few touch ups and where the rail tail gate latched.

So about a week later or 6 days to be exact my Smittybilt SRC front bumper showed up at the door. I had my eye on this bumper since the first day I saw it online. I thought it would be a good fit for my TJ since I wanted to do some off roading and also beable to add some extra lighting. I add my existing Hella 500ff to the bottom of the bumper but still hadn't decided on what to do for the top.

A week later or so I found the lights to go up top. They were Hella 700FF. I was a little worried after I ordered them that they wouldn't fit since they measure about 8 inches wide each. They ended up fitting perfectly and throw out tons of light.

A cold Bud Light is always recommend on any sort of install.

yeah, tan top.... ew, but on the flip side, front bumper is a great choice and those lights are HHUUUUUUUUGE, but also awesome.

The following week I finally got to go take it off road and see how capable it was with just the larger tires. I thought it did fairly well minus getting stuck in the thick mud. The A/Ts really liked to fill up and not clean out very well. The next are just some pics of me and my buddy.

And the after math. I hate mud!

It was my first time out and it was awesome. It made me just want to mod the Jeep more and make it more capable.

I also added some D-Rings to the front bumper. The best 15 bucks I ever spent. haha

that's pretty much why I started one. I was bored out of my mind. Plus I can just add my pics I take here instead of making pointless threads and what not.
