For my Girlfriend

So, I'm a Toyota/Chevy guy. However, my girlfriend and I have been dating for a few now and I wanted to do something nice. Inlew of rebuilding her AX-5, again, I opted to donate a rather peppy GM350 to a noble cause. Since then, the old engine, transmission, and T-case is out! Pics to follow, wish us luck!

So, the engine is out. Anybody need a 1995 2.5L and an AX-5? You can have them, come get them!

Like I said, T-case is back together. The Teraflex SYE worked out pretty well. FYI if you're wondering why the speedometer indicator ring doesn't look like it fits the main shaft right, it does. The yoke secures it against the teeth that hold the oil pump.

Spent the afternoon scrubbing, sandblasting, and sprayed primer on the SM420. Paint and start of reassembly tomorrow!

So, this is not Chevy orange... But it's going to match the block and the sweet sweet pin stripe in the dark purple that's going to don the bod.

So, weekend is about over. I didn't get the build as far as I was hoping. The NP231 input gear needs to be a 23 tooth input to mate to the Novak adapt shaft in the SM420 make sure that you check this as you get to tear the t-case all the way down, again to change it. Anyway, here is the SM420 with the Novak adapter/PTO cover/ front input cover. Going to get better looking bolts for the top cover tomorrow.

The bummer is that becase the wrong input gear was in there all that blue gets to be cleaned off before I can put the t-case back together again...

So, these are the Dana 60's that we picked up last weekend for the project. The front is out of a '97 F-350 and the rear is a 1978 vintage.

Awesome build man. Since you asked me i'll ask the same question; what suspension are you putting under this? i'm very jealous of your 350/sm420 combo!

If you don't know already, that is a ball joint D60. Kingpins are stronger and aftermarket support is abundant.

I know the ball joints are less strong, but from what I've read they're still pretty strong. I got a pretty good price on the pair. Still looking/determining what to do with the suspension.
