Those wheels look BOSS. Weight savings alone is worth it...when you weighed the rims, did you add the wheel spacers too?

I liked them when I got them, but grew tired of the look. These new aluminum ones give it a totally different appearance which I really think I'll come to love.

Thanks Joe! Wheel spacers are about 2lbs a piece I believe. Factoring that in, I'm back to 10lbs saved per corner.

Last week I told you I had something cool for the Jeep... and no, it wasn't the wheels.

While perusing a thread on cages a few weeks ago I got a PM from a guy on the South Shore of MA saying he had a cage kit that he never used (and sold his TJ)... when I went down to Nantucket last week he and I met up and for a short $200, which is $110 less than a new one shipped to my door, I got a brand new weld-in Blue Torch Fab TJ Sport Cage. I don't know when I'm going to tackle this project, but it should be an exciting use of a weekend or a few days. Tack weld it in the Jeep, remove the cage, and burn the whole sucker in. Paint and re-install.

In order to do this project, I'll need to remove all of my electronics and figure out where they will be installed post-cage. My scanners and CB are located to the left of the steering wheel, where the windshield and dash spreader bar will be. I'll need to look into making an overhead bar or something of that sort. This is a downside, as I love where my electrical systems are currently located.

Anyway! I'll be looking for help with this, so if any of you are up for some welding fun (maybe I'll give free MIG lessons to all who assist???!) we can make a party out of it. There is nothing more relaxing than melting metal.

Sounds nice. Just a suggestion that ive heard of. People sometimes use there cage as there air tank. At every joint they drill holes for the air. A pretty cool idea. Just a suggestion welding tubing is an art to get a nice looking weld. its difficult because you cant run a continuous bead and keep the angle of your wire the same. I would just suggest practicing on scrap first!

If it aint broke, fix it till it is.

SaWEET! 'Bout damn time, if you ask me!

I totally assumed you were referring to the wheels.

Maybe now you'll put down your windshield occasionally!

You are *far* too good at finding these deals, btw!

I wish I was closer to you I'd gladly help, I'm looking to buy a welder and teach myself how to weld, a few free instructions would be helpful.

Am thrilled the Canyons came out lookin' so good on your rig, brother. I had intended on getting those photos edited for you but duty called and resulted in me driving my TJ to California on a 24 hour notice haha. Either way, looks boss.
