Beep Beep in my Jeep Jeep
|
Thread Beginning: January 2009
Hey guys, First off, the Jeep's name... Veda, from the main character of the 1991 movie My Girl. So as many of you say, I've read enough of these to start my own build thread. To begin my story, I bought the Jeep on January 2nd, 2008 after searching Craigslist for months, and finally found this '99 TJ Sport (83k, winch, hard top, tow pkg.) from a guy in a local town for $7,000. Checked it out, brought it to my mechanic, assessed, and decided it was right. Here's the original ad picture... ![]() So after I bought it, I simply drove it! Didn't have much desire to change it around too much. It had the radiator replaced, and a new exhaust (nothing fancy, just one to pass inspection), and blacked out the headlight bezels as well as the grille inserts, as I'm a BIG fan of black on red. This lack-of-change stayed until mid May 2008, when it was time for new tires. I decided I wanted to pursue the whole "off-road" thing , even if it would only be for looks for a while, so I went with BFG All-Terrain's 31x10.5 and Cragar Soft-8s(black again ). Here she is after that little modification... (see? we're getting there!) ![]() So that's how she ran, with occasional mods like a CB in October and Police Scanner in November, grab handles, mounting my Mag-Lite, etc... Up until January, when I installed a 3" coil lift by Black Diamond Suspensions, a Rampage Recovery front bumper, Hi-Lift, tire caps (the little things count too!) I'll add pictures in another post so you can see the changes, etc ![]() Hope this stays interesting enough to get a few people to read it haha. So here are pictures... New suspension... ![]() The bumper ![]() Bumper, meet Jeep :-) ![]() Couldn't get the winch plate to fit the new bumper just yet... New bumper ![]() BEFORE ![]() AFTER (w/ lift) ![]() 3" lift ![]() Cut the winch plate to fit, painted both the winch and winch plate, and ordered new cable ![]() Installed new cable ![]() ![]()

And for those who may be asking, the two holes in the bumper are for the driving lights... which i do in fact have - it's just been too cold to wire the relays (10 degrees is NOT ideal conditions)

Moving to Florida is for school at this point. I'm not sure if I plan on staying after finishing my masters program, but we'll see. I'm not one for living in a Del Boca Vista region. (just incase you're a Seinfeld fan )

Today i got a new windshield and rear hard-top window... long story short i shattered the old rear window and had them install a new windshield while installing the rear one.
also washed her down and got some of the grimey road-salt off. I saw some rust already on the front bumper, god I hate the climate and road conditions up here, it looks like I'm gonna have to touch it up already.. Pics to come

Installed the WARN "GO PREPARED" banner today, as well as got my new rear bench.. only problem being that when i went to unscrew the bolts from the floor in the back, the heads snapped off leaving me with a bolt-filled-hole-and-no-way-to-get-it-out. sucks.
also swapped my clear lenses to amber with a guy on here from NC. looks even better now ![]()
