If you don't have a big *** rope, you could shove an old rag or shirt in on each side to hold it in place nice and snug if you're worried about it or you could loop a rope around the neck below the head then tie it off onto the frame. Possibilities are endless really.

I also found a place to put my Axe! Might come in handy while camping plus once I had to turn around on a trail because of a downed tree, looks like I'll chop through next time

I have a string holding the handle in place so that it doesn't fall off of the fan shroud. However, I don't think the string is really neccissary because the airbox and it's hoses holds it in place. Oh well, the string just makes me fell better about having an axe resting on my fan shroud while going 70mph on the interstate or hiting bumps on the trail

Updated the current pic to this as of Feb 13, 2009.

I also ordered an H4 headlight conversion kit with a better harness off ebay. The total for both + shipping was about $70. I can't wait to get that baby hooked up so that I can light up the night!

Got my H4 conversion kit as well as the new harness and installed them both last night.

I'm kinda underwheled over the H4 performance. I was expecting more out of it but Hell, I only paid 40$ for the conversion housings and bulbs so I guess I got what I paid for.

They are brighter and seem to have a higher and wider beam on low but down't shoot out in front of me as far as normal bulbs. On Hi they are like a freaking lazer beam and shoot straight and far ahead unlike before, where the beam just widened and went a little further ahead. Even trade off I guess.

Maybe some FatBoy light bulbs would brighten things up?

I finally got around to doing the 20Gal. tank mod!

Unbolted and unplugged the filler.

Pulled the inner tubing out of the hole closest to the back of the vehicle.

Now it holds 20Galons! It sits at full longer since the measurer was only meant for the 15gal tank but that's okay, makes me feel better when it stays at full

Is the shroud strong enough to bolt a hoop type thing to and slide the axe handle through it to hold it instead of string?

Good question...

If I can get the Heep to run good again I'll try that out.

The first cylinder currently isen't firing.

And as an update, the Jeep still only runs on 3 cylinders and caught fire while driving a month ago.

The Jeep is running great again! But other things have since happened. I'll do some quick update posts.

I Snorked my Heep.

Used some 14Guage 3" galvanized pipe and bent up a snorkel.

Before

Afters.

So far it has saved me over $30 worth of new air filters. Plus I think it looks nice as well.

After the snork I went wheeling a lot!

Unfortunately a few days after that video I ran over a 2ft wide by 2ft deep trench running through a grassy field while driving off-road. It ended up shearing the passenger side engine bracket clear off of the engine block. This caused the whole drive line to shift rupturing my oil filter, cracking my fan shroud, and causing my rear driveshaft to grind against the bottom of the tub.

My windshield also cracked really bad. Luckily that is free to replace with insurance here in Florida

I've ordered a whole new set including Motor Mounts, Cradles, and Engine Brackets from Brown Dog Inustries. They should be in by the time I get back from vacation in mid-July. One less thing to worry about breaking!

Cost me exactly $97 in the end. I recently lost my snorkel cap while wheelin' so I'll have to find another somewhere. Thinking about using the intake cap off of a tractor or small diesel engine.

Wow, I really let this thread go.. I'll update some stuff.

After the motor mount/engine bracket incident I replaced all of the mounting stuff with a complete BrownDog set. They are VERY beefy and I have total faith in them. I got the poly ones so there is a lot more vibration at idle but that's okay with me, it's a Heep.

My windshield frame was very rusted out so I had to order a new frame as well. It ran me $150 shipped from eBay for a new galvanized replacement. The windshield was free due to insurance in Florida so that was no big deal.

In August I went wheeling with some fellow JeepForum folks and had a blast. Unfortunately I ended up inverting a shackle while I was there and had to drive 80miles back home on an inverted shackle : Funny thing is, it rode just as well with an inverted shackle as it did normally Only in a YJ

Luckily a fellow JeepForum member offered to give me a free leaf spring if I came to pick it up and since I was going on vacation in Pompano that week I decided to do a big loop and pick it up on the way home.

I drove from Orlando to Pompano/Miami to Ft. Myers to Tampa to Orlando on an inverted shackle

While I was on vacation I went to their local U-Pull-It yard. (yeah, even on vacation I bring all of my tools and visit junkyards for fun ) I cam back with a 4.0TB and Ford Taurus fan. The 4.0TB cost me 20 bones and went on smooth, it gave me more throttle response so not a bad deal over all.

The fan took me a whole night to get set up (stupid clutch fan bolts didn't want to come out) but I did it! I have it wired to come on with the ignition and also have a toggle on the dash for when I decide to go underwater (or to save energy while on the interstate). It also freed up some more HP and the little Heep is faster off of the line now, also seems to start quicker now that it doesn't have to turn that clutch fan.
