My first Vehicle, a 1990 YJ w/ 4.2
Hey, my names Chris, and since I'm new to the forum, I thought I would post some pics and fill you in an what's up.
For my first vehicle I was looking for something I could work on, and be set out from the crowd. What better then a jeep? Found this gem and knew we were meant for eachother. The 4.2 was rebuilt in 07' and has very little miles since then. Runs Great. Ya, it needs work on the body, but I wanted that. That way when it's done and looking good- I know that I did the work. Anyway, lots of work to be done, in the process of painting. Have been cleaning up the undercarriage and frame as well. Going to Rhino Liner the inside, and paint the outside with Insgnia White. Here are some Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Thanks, plans include New Fenders, Bumpers, Step-Bar, Hood Latches...
2" Body Lift, 33 1/2 Tires w/ either Eagle or MT Rims. Maybe a 2-3" Suspension lift...if funds allow. Again, Rhino liner the floor inside as well. Also currently looking for new gas tank....and the mirrors that attach to the body, not the doors. I do have a pair of half doors for it; they just need work as well. ![]() |

You'll need more than the 2" BL to fit those 33's, at least... To fit them comfortably.
I'd check out RC for your lift. They've been getting really decent reviews of late, their prices are hard to beat, and you get a discount for being a forum member. My 2.5" lift and 1" shackles are going on this coming Monday... ![]()

Great place to start! A Jeep on jacks, that looks familiar, mines up on jacks right now too painting the frame.

Thanks for the pointers. I can use all the help I can get. This really is a great place, I can tell already!
The old fenders are all beat up, and I wanted the larger one's anyway. ![]() Well, made more progress today......... Had my buddies over today to help............My bud Matt in photo....Stephen taking Pics, he does body work- helped repair a few dents....and sand/primer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Been working on the frame and undercarrage too. |

Didn't even realize I was saying "fenders", I ment fender flares. lol
Also, have been doing some more bondo work, and just prepping for paint. This is going to sound odd.....but we have half a gallon of Alwgrip left, and we are going to roll and tip it with that. Should look great, and be a one of a kind paint job that is ultra tough. Can't wait to see how that turns out- pics to come. My dad purchased a 3" body lift already, and I'm looking for a suspension lift. Also if anyone has a gas tank......and a driver's side floor pan.....lemme' know. ![]() |

return the 3" body lift, and get a one inch, anything over that looks wierd and add's tons of stress to the body mounts and body.

Exactly. 3" body lifts look just plain ugly. They are dangerous off-road or in an accident as well. The further the body is from the frame, the more stress is put on the body mounts.

Thanks for the tip. Will have to do. So lemme' see here.
A 1 inch body lift, and a 4" Rough Country Suspension lift. That with 33s, on 15" MT's. Lemme' know if that sounds about right. |

the four inch will be fine for 33"s so the body lift isn't necessary unless you just want the extra height.

Cool. I have to say I'm loving this site.
I have already found myself spending countless hours on here, after only coming to check a "few" things out. SO many NICE Jeeps, people, ideas, and useful information. Can't seem to get out of that YJ Tech. Forum and the Parts for Sale section. ![]() |
