My first Jeep Yj

I'm used the building motorcycles I built six, I'm currently working on a café racer, My son and I Are gearhead's, he has done imports went to UTI in Houston Texas,,I am Mopar junkie, But this is my first 4 x 4 I like motorcycles, but I love My Jeep.

If all of this sounds Crazy, this is my first thread And to be honest, I do not know what I'm doing, my son is on the phone walking me through this.

I will say this much stock sucks! My wife says I have to change everything so I had the Jeep three months, and toward a part, I'm a pastor of the church called The Refuge, But I have a fab shop called Elwood's customs.

So here goes my pic's.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I drove in three weeks, Took all the carpet out and started cutting out the rust.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I decided that when I was taking out the backseat and three out of the 4 bolts broke off that I would move the seat back 6 inches, when I have passengers it gives them a little more leg room.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I wielded in the new bungs,Then I used herculiner, I know it's not the greatest staff but I knew that in two more months I tear the Jeep completely apart.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

This Jeep came with a bikini top, and for outside foot rest I use A set of motorcross foot pegs.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

My son and I at the Kings Mountain battleground this is the night before toward a part.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Shop pictures.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Hell!

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Motorcycle frame jig.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Started the tear down.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

A lot of rust around the windshield, but it was made in 1989.

I think that the Jeep has been wrecked before On the driver side going to have to replace the window frame hing, I'll be building a new roll cage that will not connect to the windshield.

[IMG][/IMG]

I'll also be doing away with the YJ patting on the dash, I'll be making my own dash it will be in the style of the CJ.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I'm going to do away with all the wiring throughout the Jeep, you will not have a computer, I'm using a 15 fuse keep it clean wiring kit, the Jeep came with a four-cylinder motor, but it also came with a six-cylinder stroker motor I'll tell you about that later.

Well, at least you had the fab. shop before you started... I built mine along with the Jeep! That's going to be a big project. I was looking to do something similar when I started mine, now things have gotten completely out of hand!

I'll be looking forward to seeing how yours comes out.

The crack where the cage hits the windshield is likely not due to accident damage. They fatigue over the years (happened to both sides on mine.

these are the shiftier that I'm going to be using, I'll cut the tail shiftier a 1:1/2.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I cut the word Jeep out of the each side of the Jeep, because the rock sliders I'm building are out of 5 inch angle.

[IMG][/IMG]

It Looks like a lot of fill , but it's a a skim coat, it all cuts down to very little filler is left after all the work is done.

About 70% of the bolts broke off in the retainer, so I board out all the holes and made my own retainers a welded them.

The Jeep will be done in digital camo, yes it will be rattle can, here are the digital cut outs, and a sneak peak.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

My Next step are the fenders, I'm using the stock fenders to make the old style Jeep fenders, the front are 7 inches, I've made them with vents in the wheels wells that go into the engine bay, buy also will drain out the bottom. I'm spraying them with Herculiner and painting over them with military desert sand color.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I also did away with the YJ turn signals that are in the grill, big old square ugly things, hate them.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

Harbor Freight sale a $29.00 gun that's great for spraying texture it comes with 3 tips, the gun easy to clean.

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

[IMG][/IMG]

I going to make my own rear bumper and tire rack, with gas can and jack holder. So I'm starting with a old Reese hitch I have laying around the shop and some 4x4 square steel.
