Because one its registered as a gas vehicle and based on that alone wont pass and the diesel trucks from my knowledge do not support obd 2 and by state requirements that's whats needed for my 96. Had I gotten a 95 or older then who the hell cares throw 4 cats on the thing and it will pass a puff test. This is what im being told by mt friend who is a mechanic and does inspections. The ram is a 96 and i would need motor trans wiring and ecu possibly cluster too but it supports obd 2 and will pass. That was my issue with the ax swap the dam check engine light. Originally the thought was to turbo the 4.0 but the tuning required to run it right would cost me more then the ram and a head gasket for it. Also to build a stroker is more money too. I have weighed my options and this seems to be the best of them all money vs power

Great thread -- looks like you've done what I'd like to do with my ZJ! Alas, no time and money of late, so will take me awhile... Did you ever climb that little hill? I'm pretty sure you'll just walk up it with no problem -- I've done worse in my Beast, and she's still stock.

Well been a while since I last posted not much going on. Jeep running pretty good but its still lacking the power to pull all these hills around here. So plan to buy the dodge ram fell through as the dippy who posted it for sale never returned my 20 emails about it. So my buddy Jay came across a 97 Suburban that the frame rusted through. Its got a 5.7 that purrs like a kitten. The guys selling it to me for 500 bucks and even though its not a manual trans ..... its going to be better then I got. Its only got 130,000 on it and its whole life was serviced at my friends shop. Can anyone say JEEBAN. I should have everything by spring time and I will finnaly get the BDS coils I have waiting. This is going to be sick wicked. So unfortunately Im going to have to sell the ax-15 and 2 4.0 motors..lol. By my calculations with scrap prices if I take the guts from the chevy in the end it should cost right around 200 bucks for the drive train. Way cheaper then a scrap yard.
