this is awesome!

my best friend's mom has this same YJ (but, in working order with little to no rust. lol) it's been her DD since before i can remember. i've never seen that color, with that weird decal on the side, other then hers. is it a rare, special ED. YJ? she also has a hard top, with half doors. but instead of the normal fabric half door, it's the same stuff the top is made out of. also, something i've never seen aside from her jeep.

With my Tj-6 stretch the LJ length corners sure made it easier for me. I did not have the rust to deal with, keep at it. I wheeled with the Duke last summer and his YJ is very nice. Looks like you are going to have a very nice rig soon. Good luck!

Looks like you know what you're doing, so when you're done with this we can stretch my TJ! I love TJ/YJ stretches that have LJ length and less rear overhang. Keep up the good work, the lucky parts donations, and the picture taking! This thread is already awesome! Crawled.

Do you have axle / tire size in mind yet?

Thanks everyone for all the kind words! It's encouraging to hear so many positive remarks about the build.

As far as axles and tire combo I am really up in the air right now. My plan for now is to try and source a stock tj rear end and a high pinion dana 30 front just to get this tj frame rolling around the yard. Right now I am thinking of using a HP dana 30 up front and building it up. For the rear I will probably go with a ford 8.8 unless the jeep gods drop off a tj dana 44 for me to use! I want to run 35" tires on this one and I am torn between buying another set of KM2's or just taking the set off my JK and buying larger tires for that! I am a long way off from having this thing in driving condition so I have time to figure out what I want to run for axles and tires!

I want to get the body completed and swapped onto the tj frame and then I will start seriously looking at my drivetrain components.

no one knows what this Jeep is called? is it a special ED, with that splash decal on the sides? i've looked all over the web and can't find any info about it. i want to know because my friend's mom has the exact same jeep, same color and same decal.

Maybe an islander? That's my guess with the blue and the splash decal

Jeep decals

I worked for a Jeep dealer from 1993-1995. For 94-95, There were 4 models: S (base) Rio Grande (base with cloth seats) SE and Sahara. Not sure what year the Renegade package with the big body kit died, but we didn't have any then.

SE's had painted flares and were available with that decal you love. I believe there were two color schemes- one that's mostly gray applied to red Jeeps and the multicolored one.

If you want more info or pics, PM me so we don't hijack this thread any further than we have already

Well I have been pretty busy lately and have not been able to do much with the old rust bucket!

This afternoon I had a little bit of spare time so I hammered out a little bit of progress. Didnt get many pictures cause I forgot my digicam and my cell phone battery was about dead (plus the pics suck)

Anyway, I got the rear drivers side floor pan finished up. Had to rebuild the floor support channel and attach it to the floor pan before welding it all in.

Once I got that tackled I started the boatside rocker project! This was actually fairly easy, the only sucky part is my metal brake is only 36" long! So I am going to have to do this in a couple of pieces. Not really a big deal since I am going to have some 3/16 bent up for rocker armor. The 22guage sheet metal is just to give the body some support back so I can get it off the frame.

Anyway here are the pictures I have, I will try and get some more tomorrow before I leave to go camping for the weekend!

as promised here are a few more better quality pics taken on my digicam on the way to work this am...

Stole this idea from a build thread on here! Works quite well!

Started the patch in front of the rear wheel well. I was going to wait until the tub was stretched to do this but it really needs to be supported before I start cutting the tub up.

Had to cut my patch out from in front of the rear wheel well today and use a jack to lift that side of the tub back up. I test fit the doors to be sure everything still lined up and the door opening was about 1/2 an inch narrrower at the top than it should have been!!! Oooopppss!!! Glad I checked it!
