Finally had the time to fix the exhaust from the shock bar installation. Used the old exhaust pipes and the new stock version that wouldnt work by itself. Welded the combo together and made 1 good one. It isn't pretty but it's functional.

Got to test all the upgrades I've been focusing on here recently. First time since the axle swaps that I've taken it out in the wild for some good ol' fashion ops checks and fun. Never generally stop for a photo op but I figured why not. Didn't get a lot though.....I was busy playing.

Awesome man I take it there were no issues. I almost thought you rig was a different color because it had so much mud on it haha.

Haha! Yep, no problems at all. Behaved better than expected actually. Got through every single thing I put her through without hesitation. My buddy was prodding me to take on these hills that I was sure I wouldn't make, so I did it and made it. They felt like vertical climbs honestly, but that's the first time I've ever attempted anything like that. The mud/pond was the best though, huge sheets of mud and water flying over the Jeep. That would have been great video. Found better pic of the concrete pipe though, other shots make it look small.

Did some reading today about the 15 to 20 gallon gas tank fix and went ahead and did it. Simple enough. Followed http://www.jedi.com/obiwan/jeep/15to20gal.html and it worked out just fine. Mine wasn't full length, ~9", like it was supposed to be. I'm sure the PO was just dumb and didn't bother to measure it because it was at like 4-5" so he half a**ed it for no apparent reason. Also installed the ORO license plate light I've been holding on to for some time, simple enough.

So these 88 YJ doors aren't holding up well in this continuous rust storm that is New England. The driver's door might be beyond my level of repair. I will try none the less but located some 87 YJ doors at a JY 49 miles from here for $100 I might jump on with no rust. We'll just see how this repair attempt pans out. Going to try and chop this all out and bend a piece in to fit and weld it in.....fingers crossed.

Ok, found some 16 gauge steel sheet metal at Home Depot of all places, metal shops around here have odd hours. Saw some 28 gauge but that was just too flimsy. Bought a ball peen hammer and a pair of metal seamers. Eyeballed a couple measurements for the existing door frame and cut/bent the plate into shape. I left extra on the outer edge for exact fitment and same with the inner edge. The edge facing the window had to be pretty close since there would be no adjusting that obviously. So I'm ready for the next step, cut the old junk out and fitting the new piece in and welding it.

RE 10" center bars for my disconnects came in and I put them in. Really didn't notice them too much while it was disconnected but whatever.

Fixed my door rot issues. Cut out the old stuff. Custom fit the new piece. Welded it in. Cleaned it up and painted with LOTS of rust reformer. Will paint the silver on when it dries and raptor line the outside again when I do the interior. It isn't pretty, but it will do.

good job man 16ga ought to hold up.

And I am not surprised you didn't notice the lack of sway bar. With the leaf springs highway speeds are really the only time they would be noticed and only if you have to swerve. For your daily compute you barely take the slack out of the hitch pins.

Thanks. You know that 7 mile commute through poorly manicured asphalt is extremely treacherous....

I started to get the tub ready for the Raptor lining tomorrow. Its mostly stripped now. Luckily no rust or rot spots anywhere visually.

Have to take my small victories when I can because this girl throws curve balls at me every chance she gets.
