That's crossed my mind before. Seems like if you had a good bender a know what you're doing it shouldn't be really hard. Be sure and post pics if you end up trying it!

Starting with an inner liner sounds like a pain in the butt. I personally would start from the outside and work my way in that way my exterior lines are exactly how I want them. Then use bits of the old fender with some raw sheet to make the inner.

I would use the time excuse rather than the welder excuse.

Time would be the reason I'm headed your way Saturday vs building some nice over-the-line/arch style hi fenders.
