i started my genright ext tank install. here are a few pics of the old gas tank removed and the new genright EXT tank. i'm going to create a separate thread on a detailed install for this. i'll link it later. the reason i'm doing the swap is for two reasons...1) I landed on a rock at morris mountain and created a nice concave gas tank skid and i figured it would be a good time to get a more beefy skid plate....2) I also want to move my 8.8 back 1" the M.O.R.E. spring perches came pre-drilled, and i figured now would be a good time to do it. I know that 1" is not a lot compared to most peoples, but it will help my shock and driveshaft lengths, as well as give me just a hair more length in wheel base. it also is the maximum i would want to go with leaf springs, since as you move farther away from the center pin you loose ground clearance and subject the spring to bending stresses that it was not designed for.

So I today I didnt have much time but I got the 8.8 unbolted and flipped. Tomorrow I plan to drill out the new center pin holes in the perches. I'm also going to cut an inch off the rear of the perch to keep from flattening the spring to much. I also found out that my brake line to my passenger caliper on the 8.8 was pinch and not getting any fluid. Then it broke while I was messing with the axle. So new brake line coming to.

So today I drilled the spring perches out for the extra inch of stretch. I also cut 1" off the backside of the perch as well.

Here they are back on the springs, and with 1" taken off the back.

Here are the spring plates I fabricated myself. Can anyone say no more bent u bolts. Just have to get a slot or a new center pin hole cut in for the 1" stretch.

So the u bolt plates I made didn't work out the way I planned. The more u bolts expanded once pushed onto the 8.8 and the holes needed an extra 1/8" that I didn't have in my plates. Also when I made them they seemed to fit fine around the spring, but didn't want to fit as well tonight. I did paint the a nice coat of black though. My plan is to go back to the drawing board and make some more with more precise measurements.
