So here is some snapshots of the gussets i'm working on for the frame notch for the draglink. I plan to finish this up this week. What you see in the pictures is the two halves i talked about. The top part will probably not be fully wrapped. The bottom will. I'm thinking i plan to burn some holes in each side of the new gusset and plug weld them to get more weld surfacing. What i will probably end up doing in the long run is adding plate horizontally in the notch after the front springs are broken in and getting my bump stops just right.

So here is the outside plate welded on. Everything went well, and it was easy to get to. The backside will not be so easy.

So I finished my gusset around the notch in the Frame for the drag link. The inside plate didn't match up right with the top part welded on so I cut it back off and just welded the inside plate to the frame. Put plate one the bottom so basically the gusset is 3/4 the way around, only the top is missing plate. The main thing in concerned with is the sides and the bottom because the top wasn't cut it should be fine. I'll take pictures and post later. I also relocated my bump stops forward and lengthened them with some old ubolt nuts. Even though I got the extended version they still didn't touch when flexed so I'm hoping this will be better. Ready to wheel now.

Next upgrade will be aluminum radiator with electric fan, more lights, and probably a synthetic winch line. Also ordered a riddler 8.8 cover but it hasn't come in yet.

Wow... 274 posts later, I'm caught up with this build. Looking real good so far, and you've given me some interesting ideas for mine. I'm still gathering some more parts for mine, but there's plenty of work to be done. Wish I had half your energy and motivation...

Keep it up, I'll be following right along.

Thanks man, it's definitely a fun project vehicle. I keep coming up with different things I want to do but only have so much time and $$. My motivation goes in and out, wish I could wheel with my buddies more because that is the most motivating for me. I subscribed to your build thread, I'll read through it here shortly. Thanks!

So here are the pics of the gusset that I promised. All painted and everything. You can also see how I did the bump stops as well. Sorry the sway bar is in the way, should have taken pics before I hooked it back up. Also, uploaded two pics of the wife's JK. I replaced the front amber and corner amber lights with clear ones, looked a lot better to me. Also installed a MORE dead pedal, which it desperately needed for people with short legs. Makes it much more comfortable on longer trips.

I appreciate the sub, it's nice to think that folks are interested. Due to the way I work, progress on mine is a bit more sporadic, but I hope to make some good strides when I get home later this week.

If you ever get down to central Florida, hit me up, I can probably find some trouble for us to get into.

Well I took it out around town and found a place to flex the front to see how I did on my notched frame. Looks like I did ok, except I'm still almost hitting with the drag link and I still had some room before the bump stop hit.
