My 1997 TJ build

Well I'm new to this kind of, so here we go. I just turned 17 and jus got my 97TJ last week. Paid for half and I'm paying my dad back the other half. I had a camry before this and I like this one waaaaayyyy more. My dad has a 1980 cj5 so that got me some what into jeeps, going on trails with him as a co pilot so I'm kinda familiar with this, now we both have a jeep and go on trails together. But a huge reason I got into was cuz of my friend Peter aka Kong here in the jeep forum, he has a 05 TJ really nice simple build but looks bad *** and he is still working on it. He told me I should get one I liked the idea. When I got out of school for summer break I said my goal for end of summer was to get a jeep. So far I'm ahead of schedule . So I had my camry and I had jus washed it and it looked all clean and nice, it's a 92 by the way and i park out side my house looking all nice nd clean and some one leaves me a note saying they wanted to buy it. Sold! Enough said. So that was a sign to get a jeep! I looked all summer and found this one. 97, black all stock except tires their 31s but not in great condition. It's 6 cyl automatic. Engine is great and clean! Jeep has a Dana 44 I didn't kno it was good but apparently it is lol . So under the hood great but cosmetic wise needs work. It didn't have doors, no carpet, no stereo, paint isn't the best, rims are blah! Top is terrible, nd a few other things. So I picked up carpet, painted my rims, added a 1inch spacer, got doors that were red haha but ended up switching to black ones
It's looking good, it's a project, being in HS and low. Budget isnt gonna make it easy but whatever. I'll update this as I go on. Here some pics from before and after. Looking forward to fixing this up more and more any little thing I add jus makes it better. So I'll keep u guys updated

Red doors :P

My gauges stoped working the other day so if anyone knows what could it be? I'll probably take it to the shop next week for that. I'll post a pic of it when I get the top. Oh and hopefully tires , rims and a lift soon too

Last week I finally got a top. It's the Rampage Bowless soft top. I like it a lot, the windows are tinted already and their bigger windows than the normal top. So I finally have a fully closed in jeep.
Next step is the JK 1.25 body lift to prepare for my suspension lift, haven't decided yet on which lift yet but its going to be either 2.5 or 3 inch lift. I need tired pretty bad but if I want 33x12.50 I need the lift first. Or I'm considering a BB.

I would go with the 2.5" lift, that with the body lift you'll be sitting just right for the 33's. What gearing do you have in your axles?

Yea that is what I am thinking. And I have 3:55 gears and I have a Dana 44 axle

For the time being you should be good with that gearing, more is always better but heck I've had my Jeep for 5 years with 3.07 with 33's and I was driving it all over New England for work and wheeling with it never really had a problem... didn't use 5th all that much but it wasn't that bad.
