My 1987 Cherokee Build

After searching for a long time I finally found this beauty. I had a lot in store for her.

After a bit of cleaning it was time to get to work, ie. enlisting the aid of my mechanic friend.

After researching different winches I decided to get a Super Winch Tiger Shark 9500.

After her first trip to the off road park I found out the hard way that the flex was too much for the stock wells and flairs. Decided to cut them off and add some spacers.

Tore up the carpet to coat the floors in bed liner only to find the driver side floor board was rusted out. I enlisted the help of my brother to weld in a new floor board.

First coat of bed liner (still wet).

Replaced the steering column for a less 'rickety' one and I'm getting the Jeep painted tomorrow. I will post more photos when it gets out.

That XJ is in mighty fine shape for its age.

Nice looking ride. Lots of elbow grease for sure. How many miles and did you rebuild any of the drivetrain?

Thank you very much! It has about 230k miles on it but it will be rebuilt soon and ultimately I will be putting a new engine in it sometime in the next year. When I bought it the transfer case was leaking so that was replaced, Dana 44's added, a slip yolk eliminator and the tranny is a '94.

Nice looking jeep, how did your brothers eyes feel after welding with cutting goggles?
