Hmmm... Try taking the thermostat out and then running the upper radiator hose into a bucket to test; more of a hassle to take off the pump than the radiator, and it'd be a shame to swap it out if it is working.

I figure its $22 of cheap insurance. I have the thermostat out of the motor, and it was still doing it, it didn't look like it was churning much in the radiator either, but whether it is a weak water pump, or plugged radiator, I cannot tell. I figure the engine is 36 years old, and the radiator is 62 years old... it could probably use a pump and a good flush.

Had a MAJOR plug in the radiator... now she runs like a raped ape.

AND...

BOOM SHACKA LACKA....

Putting the pig gig shoes on.... I *think* it will be ready! (Pig Gig is the local jeep wheeling event of the year) The YJ won't be ready, So I plan to pimp the CJ up there. $50 for some 5x5.5 Chromies and she has some wheeling skins.

In time... I get a lot of reactions from people that think I gave it this look on purpose... a local cruising magazine took photos of it

Alright Let me know when you want to do some trail riding. I was thinking of going on a trail run from Merridith to St. Hellens next weekend. Starting on the Denton creek trail and ending up at the scramble area in St Hellens. Moderate trails all the way.

I will see how it works out once I get the towbar mounted, and rest of the bodywork/paint done. I have a lot of little stuff do do before I am willing to take it someplace where it theoretically could strand me in the woods.

I have to swap out the t-case and tranny in the coming weeks so I can engage 4wd and seal everything up, this tranny keeps puking fluid everywhere. The rear pinion seal is leaking pretty bad as well.

Looks like a runner, now! Keep up the good work.

You know, spending a lot of time and effort to make the body straight and putting down a gloss paint job is nice and all, but why not just scuff it "relatively flat" with a straight line and put down some satin tractor enamel to get you by for a season or two? I'm really happy with that stuff I put on my frame. All kinds of colors to choose, not just "John Deere Green" and "Case Red."

That is basically all I will be doing, relatively smooth, Ford Gray or Massey Ferguson Gray, and navy markings. This jeep is to enjoy, play, with the occasional show thrown in. And it now has company...

Talked to my dad about the following trailer I saw, he had already looked at it since it was around the corner from his house... he is much cooler then I thought he would be... he loaned me some cash... It is a 1966 M416 in its original paint and in very good condition (it was holding water, he pulled the drain plugs so I could look at the bed)

The pintle is gone -- and the 24V lighting.

He is a career welder, this guy dropped the trailer off 2.5 years ago to have the 1 7/8" hitch put on... he never showed back up for the trailer or payed for the job. He contacted him many times with no luck. He did not know what he had. He then has moved and the trailer followed, but he doesn't need it.

I almost missed buying the trailer by 5 mins, there was a guy crawling all over it when I got there -- he did not know what it was either. As I walked up they were talking about it being a Willey's jeep trailer. (that is the way it was spelled on the FS sign) and the guy buying it said he just wanted it for around the farm, but thought it would be very cool if someone with a Willys could buy it... I raised my hand and said I had a '46 Willys CJ. He said "well you have first dibs then" I made some calls and rounded up the cash

Flatty pulls it great... even in THE most torrential rainstorm I have ever driven in, with no wipers no less.

The guy ran over an hour late to meet me to pick it up, but said if we didn't do it tonight I wouldn't be able to get it for a week as he was heading out of town for a few days. I waited and the darker it got (sunny when we left) it was lightening like crazy and 2 miles from home it came in buckets... the jeep was full of water and draining out the holes guess they work

The trailer parking brake is even functional!

Threw some flat painton it to make it presentable to take for a shake down run one of the local off road shops... The rest of my pics will not be here until later today, We forgot my camera at my parents house afterward.

Here are some teasers though...

Carnage... one tie rod, and my u-bolts took some abuse...

Going trail riding this next weekend with some of the club members from Midland . They are going camping at Leota north of Harrison. I was thinking of talking them into trail riding over to St Helens Motor sport Scamble area. They have some good trails and sand hill to play on. Or just cruse around the Leota and denton creek trail areas. Welcome to come along. Look in CJ tech I posted my snorkle build.

Man I'm jealous of that trailer find.

JEEP is looking AWESOME! I love that flat black treatment. Way to go!

On those tie rods, I can't stress enough how valuable the SnapOn #R121 reamer has been to my toolbox. I bought it a while back and people just seem to come out of the woodwork wanting to get their tie rods flipped. I'd highly recommend it in your case as well. Not only does it put the tie rod up somewhat out of harm's way, but it'll help with bump steer, too.

Looking good man!
