Took it for it's first road drive last night... needs adjustment someplace, it like to pop off out the right exhaust in third gear, and sometimes at idle...

New front bumper, Orig W/S frame with Plexi W/S and more body work done, I also statred sandblasting the grill... Down to the last 2 layers of paint out of ~7

It's looking great!

Good luck with adjusting and all, it's coming out really nicely.

She had already ridden in it once... BUT here is an update from getting ready to take her for a ride today

So despite all the hard times my G/f - future Fiancee and I have had the last few months (not with each other) in life, I have always used working on the flatty as an outlet. So I put it on the road officially last week as EVERYTHING pointed to the drivetrain being in sound shape, and took it for its first drive last night with Adam, we went about 4 miles last night and it ran PERFECT.

So Today I go to pull i out of the garage to take some pics and get it ready to take my g/f for a spin..

I fire it up and withing seconds BANG rattle rattle...

went from being happy and having something good happening to this...

I cannot say anymore... nor how POed I am.

got it, the local motor is $150, I will likely do that as I can trade some parts I have for it and get the cost down to no out of pocket expense, and they are parts I don't need or won't use anyway. Shipping is minimum of $95 on that motor from you using my work tariff and bringing it in collect. The local engine is free and may run, but I probably will go through it to be safe if I can find parts reasonably... at least re-ring it and some new bearings and a hot tank. It was actually the spare motor for my chassis...

I guess I will finish the body work and make it LOOK pretty anyway....

How many parts can you destroy in a Dauntless at one time?

The answer is somewhere in this pile... I quit counting....

Lifters cracked in half (2-3)

3 severely bent pushrods

one broken rod

block broken under intake

hole in side of block

cam in minimum of 3 pieces

Broken valve train

and thats about where I stopped....

The motor appears to have recently been rebuilt too.... I think they screwed something up when they did... the cam shows NO wear on the lobes.

Looks like the New cam exploded. Then in the process of that ,Over centered the cam loab and over pushing the push rod. The valve was stuck open to far now and the piston came up and smashed into the valve. That caused the piston to brake and take the rod with it. The rod broken then fell to the side and hit the block. Thuss the hole in the block. Simular events to rest of engine I would say. Now the good news. If you can find the manufacture of the said Possible new cam, You may contact them and send them the said cam . They may find a defect and help you out. Worth a try.

If you count the lifters... one is missing, I never found it. If you look at the one piston, a rod bolt is snapped on it... If you look at the cam lobes... well some are gone... Block is destroyed.

You haven't drive a 225 V6 have you? That was MORE then enough for a flatty. an SBC or something would simply be stupid overkill. I already have my SBC YJ for that.
