Weird I never got a notification for this thread. It is stock NT tie rods and drag link from a later CJ, and I am running a J20 power steering box, it is way overkill, but it was laying around.

More updates.

Just scored $1000 worth of drivetrain on CL for $325 after a tip from a friend

T98/D18/Warn OD I can keep my 3.73 axles for wheeling now! 6.72:1 first and an OD!

I also went snow wheeling again at Snofari 2013

I have done this run for over 5 years without issue... this year all hell broke loose on me.

It started with backing into a ledge/stump

The day was going well and then....

A low tree combined with my heavy foot ripped the (hard to find) hardtop almost clean off, springing the door open. I got stopped and started sliding backwards on the ice and the door swung wide open on me causing me to "Tommy Boy" the door, crack the windshield, and dent/bend the passenger fender.

The funny part was someone said my exact words were "I got this!" as I broke out a cordless sawz-all. I was then asked who in the world carries a sawz-all.

Video of it happening, and the repair When I hit the tree the front wheels came off the ground.

Wheeled some more

and then my electric fan failed

So we did a redneck cooling fix

the fender, the picture doesn't show it well, but it is bent downward and the tub is bent

Culminating in the So-Broke award

Nice man. Just please...please don't cut it up. Sucks about the hardtop. Those are the definition of rare and easily are more expensive than the Jeep itself.

Every one of these hard tops I run across are usually sub $300. I had a guy offering me one within an hour of smashing it to hell. That said I do not plan to destroy it. I saved the frame I cut off to finish the day as well. I will probably put it in the rafters and maybe pick up another one. I might try to bump it out too. My doors were already in rough shape and the latches never worked as the doors were dented and twisted pretty bad before I got it.

The tops make the jeep miserably uncomfortable, and are a pain to remove and put on. Because of that top my jeep has not been street driven in the summer for the last 2 years. With my new job I just have no time to remove it in summer and grabbing the motorcycle is that much easier.

The jeep might actually get driven this year with no top on it, if I get it put back together.

We must live on opposite sides of the Jeep world. One of these days I'll find me a nice 2a, M38, M38a1, or an early CJ 5.

The tops are probably more plentiful here with the snow and cold we get. The top I am looking at now he is asking $200. I could have had a nice half cab had I been quicker, it was in NJ but I go that way for work all the time.

My buddy just sent me these:

Quote:
T86a vs T98

4 cyl clutch of V6 pressure plate and V6 clutch laying next to it we are hoping to find a larger clutch disc to use

T98 with Buick bell housing ready to go in for a test and trim

Got the T98 crossmember cleaned up also

New steering shaft on the way, mechanical fan and spacer on the way, and hope to order a column next paycheck.

This thing has really taken care of me, this is the first real money put into it. Hopefully I can get a clutch disk, I found the throwout bearing today. Looking more like a custom clutch disk will be in order, I have an email into a company mentioned by a friend.

Well, My rear driveshaft was >< that close to breaking. Adam noticed it is twisted like a pretzel, just not broken when he was measuring it to see if I would need to shorten it.

Clutch Dynamics wants to look at my pressure plate and stuff, they think they can make me the clutch disk I need for about $100. They seem VERY knowledgeable and are genuinely nice people on the phone. They asked that I bring my old parts over, and what I have and they can get me something that will work.

Trans mocked into place with all the levers...

More showed up today:

Column should be here Friday, and Clutch Dynamics has my parts, should have a quote to me tomorrow. Summit had to special order my steering shaft so hopefully it will show up soon.

I picked this up yesterday, he was a great guy, really took care of me when I had a trailer break down.

I'm going to try not to bang this one up. I am still confused how on every one of these tops I have looked at the door latches are broken and mangled beyond operating.
