I have a small lift on mine to clear the 34x9.5's and I use YJ shackles. To my knowledge Early 5 springs are the same as flatfender springs so it should look fine.

The pictures above are what it looks like as it sits now, need measurements?

Great looking rig, it looks like a fun time out wheeling with that thing.

Now that its been a couple years, how do you like the tires for snow/rocks/mud? I've been debating on going with 33 x 10.5 or 34 x 9.5. Nice Jeep btw.

The tires are point and shoot, if there is a bottom they WILL find it. That can be good and bad. Mine seem to air down nice, but most people say theirs don't. There was once a 2' rock on a steeper incline I couldn't get over with them, it was muddy and the tires were too, but lockers would have helped that situation. I just took a different line.

I honestly love them on this rig, it does everything I want it to and more. The snow pictures above I was wheeling with rigs on 40" tires, some had smaller but they were mostly out back other then a dodge on 33's and a CJ on 35's - they both seemed to struggle. I was 5th in line of a group of 15. I took a strap twice, the AEV rigs behind me had to winch a few times even (they were also on 40's). I say it's the tires anyway

That snow was 2-3' deep or more on much of the trail

I had 20 minutes one night before I had to go some place, and didn't want to sit on my *** on a beautiful day. So I clearanced the bracket for my Ultimate Air tank to allow for a master lock.

Who says ECJ's can't flex...

Need a taller ramp though :sonicjay:

And the plow mount, which will double as a place to mount a vice when wheeling. The mount can be put on with one person and a jack in about 10 minutes. There is still some bracing to be done though.

Well It would be done if some genius hadn't spec'ed this out with 1/4" bleeder screws. I broke them off, no one stocks them, and because it is an oddball axle they are $30 each instead of $8 each.

Plow mount is done, and axle is installed otherwise. Also installed a new pinion seal and rear t-case output seal.

Jeep is now "Miller Locked" in the rear as well. I hope I don't regret it.

I also have some painting to do... one of these days I will tear the whole damn thing apart and paint from the chassis up. Maybe wwhen I have my own garage.

More... I have to work on the doors a bit, man are they jacked up. The windows have to be installed in the top as well. Adam and I worked all day on installing the top, what we thought was going to be an easy task.

We should stay warmer this year at Snowfari as long as I can keep the doors shut, the latches are broken, and not even close to lining up. I put a gate latch on the drivers door to test it out, I think it will work.

Can you tell what is going to happen to the top in the following pictures?

Not really I have a sanctioned run with the local association on Saturday and I was trying to get everything else in order like HEAT! That heater I wanted to use won't work as the tip over protection is too sensitive. I plan to work on stripping the paint in the next few weeks, but it has been single digits here, so maybe when it is a tad warmer

I also completely gutted my only bathroom forcing us to move out of our house for two weeks. I won't be back at my house until the day before the run!

The trans in my tow rig also went out over Christmas, so now I have to decide if I am going to flat tow using my buddies truck or borrow a trailer for the 2.5 hour drive to the run... ugh.

Nice willys. The other flat fender in the magazine article is mine. The Dive Dive photo.

That was a sweet picture, yours is actually on my living room wall with mine, my dad laminated then framed that page and gave it to me for Christmas last year. I try to stay out of mud, especially with this one. There is a lot of clay out here and it is just too hard to clean up to my expectations.

I hope to finish the long term plans for mine in the next 5 years or so, but this year the priority is my YJ, and my wife would like me to work on her '29 Model A one of these days. She wants to drive it sometime this decade

The snow run went great, though the extra 1" of wheelbase bent the hell out of the rear quarters. I think I may move it back, I have to pop off the axles for new springs anyway. I bent both rear main leaves and broke a front main leaf. Luckily the front one didn't break until I was bringing it home.

I need a bigger heater

This was a short haul pull... I wouldn't do this on the highway.
