My 03 I6 WJ Build

Back in September last year I bought my WJ. I love this thing. I have slowly been building it up better. This is what it looked like when I bought it.

Next was the bumper. I didnt want to buy one so I made one. It still isnt finished tho. I am going to cut out holes and make bezzles for 100watt 4" tractor lights. I think that it has turned out pretty good tho.

That bumper is looking pretty cool. Whats the story with the hitch receiver?

After that was the lift. I went with a 4" RC X Flex. And took out the bb. I like this lift alot. For what it is it is great. Very versatile for what I do. I would recommend it to anyone.

The receiver is for the winch. I have it mounted on a cradle. and wired to plug in, in both the front and rear.

And the lid acts as both an access for the receiver pin and a chain box. So that no matter where I go I have a chain.

A buddy of mine toyed with doing the same thing (reese hitch to swap winch front to back) awhile ago, but never ended up following though...How secure is the winch? Is it held on only by hitch pin?

The winch is a 9000lb badlands winch from harbor freight. Great winch at an even better price. I also got the cradle there and was also rated at 9000lb. It simply slips into the receiver and I put a locking pin in it. I have to do a little reinforcement to the bumper still. During a hard pull it pulls away just a little. Im going to put a couple 1/2" bolts thru the back into the actual bumper to help hold it in place.

I like the concept...the execution needs some work. You want to do more than a little reinforcing, especially with a bottom of the barrel winch and line. You're gonna kill somebody if you don't

The winch is actually rather good for the price. The line on the other hand is a little disapointing. A friend has a 12000lb and his line is smushed after just one pull. You have to watch the wrap carefully. I want to just switch out for the rope. And cut down some weight. As for the bumper it is solid. It is 1/4 and 1/8 steel and all the pull points are not only welded but notched in for added strength. I should have taken more pics of the build.
