Here is a better update to this build. There is a ton of pages of banter in this build so I figured a condensed version will help newcomers to the forum.
I started with a piece of junk I purchased off Craigslist.
After the complete paint job and 33s
I wanted a solid DD built to drive to and from the trail. I put the Jeep on 33s, then quickly sold them to go to 35s, Just days after I finished the build all but the rear D44 and the HP30. I was hit by a careless driver and flopped the Jeep on its side. Then there was a new plan to build a Jeep on 37s with a 104" WB. The rest in history dumped somewhere in the next 400+ pages.
I agree on body color red rear fenders - will look good. What about more of a trapezoid shape wheel opening? I think the lines would match the Rokmen front fenders well. Something like this Gen-Right rear hi-flare (sorry for the extra tall pic):
Well after about 8 hrs of wrenching, fitting, welding, grinding, little body filler, seam sealing, sanding, etching, spraying sealer, then basecoat. I will refinish on Saturday. I have over 100 pictures.
I need to finish the edge of the Hood, It is only roughed in. ROKMEN Highline Fenders
Damn, lookin pretty clean and spiffy. Just my 2 cents, but I think black fender wells would look better than all red. So black on the inside and red outside, maybe it's just me and it would be too much, lookin good though.
Have to agree with you on that one. That red looks nice but maybe down the road when rocks and debris chip it up, he could hit it with some duplicolor truck bed coating to freshen it back up. I ain't hating though...it's a damn nice ride.
I really had a busy day. About 8 hrs of work. This DIY fender kit Rokmen sells is a Mid level Modification for a person if anyone is wondering. Just about anyone with welding skills can do these fenders. Cutting the hood was probably the hardest part of the install. I chose to weld the top to the tube, then grind down and put a very thin coat of Premium Platinum body filler, sand it down with 80 grit, then follow with a thin coat of premium putty coat. Sanded with 180 grit paper. Then removed and put a light scuff on the bare metal and sprayed with etch primer in the areas that would be sealed from water. Seam sealer is to be applied to the seams under the top and sides that will come in contact with the elements. Then follow any other paint recomendations for bare metal and refinish.
Now that is what I am talking about. That is exactly what I was thinking it would have. I take it that you will be painting it black right? If it were a shiner, fancier Jeep, the polished color might look cooler.
I did a bit of fitting today. Had to trim about 3 inches off the sliders. Punched all the holes for the sliders and the corner armor. Just cannot decide on the corners, Painted? Bare? Flare? No Flare? Rounded Opening? or a Rokmen style opening? :brickwall:help:

Well John, looks like your idea worked. That is very cool, it's going to look like it came from the factory that way. Can't wait to see it all finished up.
I am so lazy when I get home I will get you those pictures Emailed soon.
As for looks, If your still running flares, then the panel wont really be seen any way.
If you need additional clearance, just trim the back of the opening.
My simple opinions.
Change things up again when and if you go to tubes. Looks like your not going to, due to no fenders flares up front.
