Thanks for the kind words, ill be watching your build as well. I really like your rear bumper
Thanks man! 50 miles isnt too bad, Id love to have someone around here as well-informed into XJ's. Around here its either fully built CJ/YJ/TJ on tons or 600 dollar beater XJ's. Im stuck somewhere in between, fending for myself lol.

And that rear bumpers been some damn work! But very worth the effort!

Played around with my roof rack today. The one thing I always hated about it was how high it sat. Today I played around with the height

I flipped the mounting points

Sits about 3.5" lower. About .25" about the roof

The reason behind finally messing with the rack

It's actually getting dark up here again. Time to busy out the big guns

Also took my non-broken stock fog light and wired in for a reverse light

That is how I want to do my light bar above my windshield. Just haven't spent the time to figure out how to make it work.

Good call on lowering the rack. Looks great!

Btw, you said "its getting dark again", is your area up there where half the year is dark and other half is day? Forgive me if thats a stupid question, just remember hearing something like that in the past haha.

I still have a little work to do on my rack. I've spent a lot of time researching mounting the bar above my window. The rack will be the easiest and least permanent.

Thanks, ya its light durning the summer and dark during the winter. On our summer soloist we have about 21 hours of day light. During winter soloist the sun breaks the horizon for about 4 hours. Up where I work its worse. The sun doesn't set for almost 4 months during the summer and it doesn't come up for 4 months during the winter.

I like low rack a lot more now that it's lowered.

1/4" clearance

It only touches on the center to strips

Your XJ is looking great for sure Sam. Wish you would have been able to make it out for some fun in the mud. The trails in the Houston area are pretty core for sure with the rain we've gotten lately. We spent the last 3 days wheeling hard and are going again tomorrow. Next time you're home we should try for one last trip before the ground starts getting solid.

My next r&r is a short one Oct 5-12th. I need to do my brake lines and rear disc conversion before I can take it out. I watched all your Zero lake videos. It looks like you guys had a blast!

Yea we had a great time. Hanging at the fire till the wee hours then wheeling all day. There was about 10 couples and maybe about 8 kids total. We started Thursday Night and just got home. Gotta make the most of summer. It's almost over. It was 31f here this morning. But 62 for a high.

How did you end up getting the light mounted? I am still thinking of how I am going to do the same thing but keep the wind dam in place. I am thinking of cutting a chunk out of the wind dam that is big enough for the light bar then putting a piece of acrylic to cover the whole wind dam to protect the light and keep from any wind noise.

I cut a piece of sheetmetal and screwed in to the bottom of of the rack.

A few more pix, the first is from the second floor of my gf's parents house.

I was worried about the light reflecting off my hood.

The light on my hood is the reflection off my gf's dads tail gate

Interior LEDs complete

Except the fog/defrost/rear wiper switches. You guys think I should swap those out?

Interior LED's are looking good!! Ive wanted to do that for some time now. They arent even that pricey, I just forget what size and type to order and keep putting it off.
