MOBBiNs 2001 Cherokee build
Hi everyone my name is Sam and im from Alaska! Im kinda new to Jeeps. Its my second Cherokee and this thread is just to keep the progress of my jeep. Its a 2001 Cherokee classic bought it from CARR Chevy in Vancouver Wa. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone....
I got into jeeps after my long addiction to fast Subarus. I wanted to try something new so I went out and found a low mileage black XJ
My old 98 Cherokee (all stock with 30 inch BFGs):

The first picture i can find of it, behind my old 05 STI:

Here's the difference between the stock rear shackles and the Rocky Road shackles:
After 2,500 miles of owner ship my jeeps in the shop. The head gasket went out. They sent the head off to the machine shop and found 2 cracks. :(
I bought a replacement head from Alabamacyclinderhead.com
I'm glad I bought the extended warranty. The only thing I'm paying for is my 50$ deductible and the head.
Heres my trip from Portland Oregon to Anchorage Alaska in summer of 2011
1st night camping:
Right around where this piture was taken ,about 170 miles out of anchorage, my water pump started leaking pretty bad. I limped her in to the jeep dealership today to find out my main rod bearings are shot. That explains my low oil pressure. I ended up getting a new long block with 76,000 miles installed free under the warrenty
Expensive gas :(
Added RE1660, RE1665 & RE1670:
Finally leveled out:
I couldn't handle the horrible stock sound system with no front speakers so i bought these
I ran new wiring from the wiring harness to the front speakers
Heres what she looks like with BFG 33x10.5x15
They where a little wider then my winter setup and I ripped off the bottoms my front flairs
I did some cutting
Finished up the zj tie rod. I also replaced the drag link because I needed all new tie rod ends.
Followed this DIY:
Installed OME steering stabilizer then got it alligned
Took her out camping
Jeep looks good, love the STI I had mine for a few years. Sold last month, but im off to better things :)
Subarus with Jeeps are the perfect combo. It's always a hard choice choosing what one I want to drive each day. The subaru usually wins because it's faster and more economical (depending on how I drive it)
Oh my god that thing is awesome
Kinda looks like mine, except mine is smaller!
Nice looking Jeep! I also have the XJ and the Suby (3rd one), but no side by side pics, and it's not an STI:crying: What part of AK are you in?
Nice jeep, you need some lights for that rack though bud!
