Just lift is 4.5inches with full packs, get some 33s off CL, and be happy.

I thought they stopped using the D35 in 1996?

Nope, I wish though haha. The Cherokees with ABS still needed the Dana 35. The Dana 35 was made till the end of the production run. The only change I am aware of axle wise in 1996 was the changeover from 27 splines to 29 splines in the 8.25 axle.

Hmm, I didn't know that. Fortunately for me I have a 29 spline 8.25.

Forget the "I" above^^^. That wasnt supposed to be there.

On a side not, I couldnt decide which lift I wanted to go with either. I ended gettin the 3" RC AAL (boo) and 1" shackles.

Thanks! and if you are ever up in my neck of the woods let me know! Since this jeep is so clean, and has the D35, I don't really plan on doing anything crazy with it. I primarily use it for commuting to college, and sadly it sees 90% pavement. I'm giving it a 2" lift for a little more aggressive stance and more clearence for snow. Once I graduate college, I plan on getting an older XJ as a project and making it a dedicated wheeling rig while this one remains a DD.

I'm also going 2" because I figure I have less of a chance of needing a T-case drop, SYE, or new trackbar. 3" lifts don't ALWAYS need a new trackbar or SYE but anything is possible it seems with a 97+ XJ. Plus my 30" tires are almost brand new. If I go 2" and everything is fine, I can always add a 1" shackle and buy some cheap $99 rustys 3" coils when my current tires wear out.

I know what your saying. I had some vibrations myself after installing my lift. Up to around 30mph. Also there was this horrible grinding noise once in a while. Like nails on a chalk board type of feeling. I got some thick 1 inch tubing, cut it to 6" each and got some longer bolts/studs for a t-case drop. It took care of the vibes/grinding, but it is by no means permanent.

And you're right. Anything is possible on an xj.

^^definitely.

Just ordered:
-2" OME medium duty leaf packs (said to give about 2.25" of lift)
-leaf spring bushing kit
-D35 u-bolt kit

This is to go along with the 2" IRO coil spacers I have.

I'm also going to be purchasing Rough Country 2-3" lift shocks.

My summer plans are:

-add 1" rear shackle to OME 2" packs
-rusty's 3" front coils
-front swaybar discos
-new lower control arms
-245/75/r16 Definity Dakota M/Ts or 245/75r16 Goodyear Duratracs once my 30's wear out

This is where the build gets good. Like when you come home and your GF is sitting on the couch wearing nothing but bacon.
