Thanks everyone. It's going to be an awesome ride when it is done. Planning on restoring it to it's original glory, as close to original as possible within a reasonable budget (not going to spend $300 on the original 1942 latch kinda thing). The project isn't going to start until the offroad trailer is finished so need to get that squared away.

So in case you are wondering it is a early 1942 Willys MB. It's almost all original, the only "mods" I know of so far are the chrome gear shift knob, brake booster, the front bumper, wheels, and the air cleaner (not pictured as we took the carb off). Only part that's a bit expensive off that list is the wheels. The original ones are split rim combat wheels, the ones on it appear to be early CJ5 wheels. The engine turns over and I'm sure will run great with a little TLC. For 1942 the rust isn't really that bad. Only a few spots need repair that I can tell such as where the fuel tank sits. But I know like with the trailer there can always be surprises after sandblasting.

This is going to be a long project so I think I will start another thread for it when we start on it so it's not 2 builds cluttered in one.

Here's better pics.

I questioned that as well. The story is that it was painted by some modern wannabe Picasso artist as some form of anti war protest. No idea how the white paint applies but it is kinda funny and shows how this vehicle has some neat history. He did a really crappy job too haha.

Oh did I mention this MB has the mount for the .50 cal?

Back to the Rubi build.. I guess I'll update and say I picked up a 12voltguy in cab winch control with the wiring harness for my 9.5TI. It's a very nice product and he gave me a pretty sweet deal. One of these days I'll get it in.

In cab winch control is in. I like it, will be nice not to have to deal with the wired controller and the driver will always be in control like it should be done.

Was hoping to get the trailer top done this weekend, but it just didn't work out. I am going to have to scrap it and start over, going to do a much simpler flat top like what G Beasley has done.

Anyone local interested in a short Marble Canyon run tomorrow. Makes for a fun short day.. an hour or 2 on the trail. It's near Cleghorn so it's close.
