Moabrubi's Rubicon Build

Figured I might as well start a build thread before the real building starts. Should be helpful in keeping track of stuff too. I got this jeep 2 years ago and never really took "build" pics so I will just start out with some of the wheeling pics. They might get out of order a bit, I don't have the exact dates written. Unfortunately i forget to take pictures a lot of the time!

Here is the first picture of it on the trails.

The first mod to it was a swing out tire carrier by Garvin Wilderness. I have added the Jerry can carrier for the other side as well as mounts for backup lights, and a CB antenna/mount.

After that I went up to the White Mountains for a few days of wheeling.

After that trip I decided I need to disconnect my sway bar. I ended up putting on JKS quick disconnects.

Ruby_Flex_JKS_QD_Front

I was out exploring after some good rains and didn't disconnect my swaybar. Well this happened: All of a sudden I got flex!

Lytle_Creek_After_Sway_Bend_

I used heat and a BFH to fix it. I figured since connecting/disconnecting the sway bar was such a pain I would eventually put a new antirock and front bumper that would work with it.

I line-xed my fenders,sliders,and sliders. It holds up pretty dang well. I also put on some Cooper STT's which rock!

So fast forward a lot. I guess I didn't take very many pictures. I changed my front bumper to Rokmen, changed the JKS disconnects for the antirock, changed the warn engine skid to UCF, added lots of other goodies, and went to EJS 2012.

That's pretty much where the Jeep is today. Now that I have this thread I will actually take pictures of everything I do. I missed a lot of stuff that I have done to it. Updates come very slowly here I plan to have this rig rolling on 35's as reliably as it pushes 32's now.

You have a sweet looking Jeep. Some awesome trail pictures I have to start taking pictures of my Jeep out on the trails. How do you like the antirock vs the disconnects? So what are you next mods you have planned for your Jeep?

Thanks. I started this build so maybe i would actually remember to take pictures of everything. I have like a 6 month gap where i cant find pictures. As far as antirock vs disconnects the antirock is 1000000x better. As you can see i got a little lazy disconnecting my quick discos which ended up with the bent sway bar link. I love the set it and forget it with the antirock, and it also feels more stable.

Next mods are probably going to be a set of savvy rock sliders and possibly do some roll cage work. I want to wear these tires out before i start lifting it anymore because Im still not 100% sure how I want to go about putting it on 35s suspension wise.

Well in the past week some stuff has happened to the Jeep.

Did some easy wheeling at rattlesnake canyon. The plan was to go to Bullfrog but we got sidetracked and ended up taking some other road for 20 miles. Was still lots of fun.

Also I needed to get new brake pads and rotors. I decided to try out the Black Magics. At first I didn't notice a difference but as i start to drive it more it stops MUCH better. I also replaced the rear with centric rotors and the Posi quiet pads.

I also scored a steering box for cheap. Will make for a good spare. I turned the picture but apparently it's still sideways. You can also see in the picture my old door bushings. I replaced those with the delrin ones from black magic and just like the brakes they are magic.

Great wheeling pics . And I agree with you about the Black Magics and Delrin bushings . They are well worth the money .

Thanks, I have many more but they take forever to resize and upload. I love the Black Magic's so much we are going to put them on the Rubihara as it is due for some new pads as well .

I starting to like the stocker looking jeeps more. your pics prove you can still do major crawling without 8 inchs of lift. nice jeep!!!

Do you notice a big difference with the centric rotors? Ive considered getting them all the way around and new pads instead of waiting for a new big brake kit to come out since the time frame is unknown

Well with the black magic pads it's required to get the centric rotors. I got the centric rotors for the rear just because I figured I might as well since I had the Caliper off anyways. I'm sure that they made a difference, I wouldn't know if just the rotors made a difference because I installed all the pads and rotors at the same time. With 35's though I'm not sure how your results would be, but I can definitely tell you that there is a major improvement in braking. I believe the rear Posi Quiet pads in Blaines front and rear brake package are just stock replacements.
