I love it when a plan comes together... Cage is out! I had my doubts about whether or not it would lift up and out but it did I got home this evening to start spring break and immediately got to work. Pulled the dash, finished welding everything I could up front, then pulled the whole thing out.

Sorry about the dark cell phone pics. I'll get to work finishing the seats and harness mounts tomorrow. And hopefully finish welding the cage up. I'm running low on shielding gas for the welder so I may have to make a trip to refill.

Thanks fellas. I'm wondering how much paint I need to buy. I need to prime and paint the cage, armor, frame (where I did the body mounts), tie-ins, etc.

Good thing is that it should be easy to raptor line the tub with the Jeep torn down like it is. Everything is out of the tub right now and it's basically ready for prep and spray. When I get around to doing paint work on everything else I'll spray the tub.

Got the whole cage welded up today and finished off the mounts for the seats so they are bolted down now. No pics since it was really just welding everything today.

I also got a new tank of C25 for the welder since it got down to around 200psi and figured it would be better to get it now than to run out this weekend.

Will most likely work on the tie-ins tomorrow and then a whole lot of painting coming soon...

BEA-UTIFUL man. I'd say 5 cans of primer and 5 cans of paint should do it.

Thanks for the recommendation Connor. You think 5 cans of paint/primer just for the cage? and additional cans for the armor, ect.?

I'm trying to come up with a good estimate in hopes that I'm not making emergency runs to the store to pickup paint half way through. I should probably just buy way more than I need since I'll probably need some in the future but I'm also trying to save money where I can.

Well, I went through 6 cans last week when I painted the tub and repainted the armor. I think the cage would probably take 2 cans of primer and 3 or 4 cans of paint, that's assuming a couple coats of primer and 3 coats of paint. As for the armor, are you going to prime it or just clean and paint it? I see no reason to prime it if it's already been done, so a can of paint per rocker guard would do. So, maybe 3 cans of primer and 6 cans of paint? Hell, just buy a lot and you'll have some for future needs.

Id say about 8-10 cans of paint. Depends how many coats you're doing though. 2 or 3? Primer I usually just do 1 coat on skids/bumpers and paint I do 2-3.

Also if you buy too much you can return the extra if you need to. That's what i usually do if I don't plan on needing any for a long time. I just keep 1 can.

Okay I gotcha. I'm probably going to end up buying like 6 cans primer, 8 cans paint. I think I have a can of primer left from before already.
The new Rokmen corners and Savvy tailgate skin/lower valance are bare and will need to be primed before paint.

Jay12, That's what I'm thinking. I usually do about one good coat of primer and then 2-3 coats of color to get even coverage.

Mike stop into tractor supply and get some Valscar tractor paint in which ever color you paint, I bought a gallon of black. Then get an el-cheapo paint gun (TSC or Walmart). It will work out alot cheaper than buying cans and I found that paint is very forgiving and doesn't create a lot of runs.
