I'm going to run oil pressure and water temp warning lights, maybe trans too I'n not sure yet. Are you monitoring oil temp also? I never have but am thinking about it after talking to a few guys out west who have had temp problems.

Also, are you going to run a GPS? The Lowrance HDS/Elite series can be set to display volts and fuel level on the display, two less gauges needed.

I wasn't planning to monitor oil temp. I have water temp, oil pressure, volts and trans temp on the gauge panel.

I'll be getting a GPS as soon as funds allow. I don't see the need as much for most of the east coast events but out in Johnson Valley I don't know how anyone could race without it. You could still be faster through the woods if your co-driver is calling out the turns.

Can't say I,be ever seen a steering box flipped on the side and run through a bell crank. Reminds me of my old 69 CJ 5

Thanks, that looks good! Fred always does clean work. I'm curious what he used for the bell crank pivot, tapered roller bearings perhaps?

I'm not looking to do anything like that with mine. Although I would really like to use bell cranks on my next build to have both a 4 link and mechanical steering linkage up front. I like what Jesse Haines did on his Ultra4 and what Scott at Dirt-Fab did on the Broadsword car. Very creative way to achieve great steering and suspension performance.

Just working on those small things that seem like they take forever and don't really look like much in pictures like figuring out wiring and plumbing routing and finish welding.

Modified the power steering reservoir mount and ordered a few new fitting for that. Working on a heat shield to bolt to the reservoir to deflect some heat from the engine and headers.


LED bar mounted. Steering cooler is mounted too, you can see it behind the grill.


Got my 1350 driveshafts.

I ordered it anodized red figuring it would look good once everything is painted black. I didn't try to color match it but it will match decently well as is.

I imagine so. I need to run new lines on mine. It has rubber fuel injection line but you cant get the hose over the fitting for the snap lock. (Sorry if im using the wrong terms.). It is just double clamped. I cant really leave it like that.

I use to run the same rubber fuel injection line on my old cell setup. If you can get the right size so that it fits properly and clamp it it will work. You could also use Push-lok hose and fittings but without seeing your setup I'm not sure which fittings you may need.

Who did the driveshafts? Do you know how much angle that CV is capable of?

Tom Wood shafts. The CV binds at 30*, I also am swapping my 1350 CV yoke out for the 1350 flange because they advised me that the flange style is capable of about 5* more than the CV yoke (only about 25*) I was going to use and have on the Atlas now. The flange is bolted to the shaft in the picture.

My working angle of the CV is right around 23-24* at full droop so should be well within the operating range of this shaft.
