Back in the garage this afternoon to finish up the spare tire carrier. I got the plate that Nate cut for me on the plasma. It worked out great, thanks again buddy!

Plate fabbed up to bolt to the unit bearing.

All finished up.

15 seconds to pull the 2 pins and I have full access to anything in the rear of the tub.

Glad I was able to help. And that looks very functional, not to mention strong and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Good one.

That tire carrier came out great and allows easy/quick access.

Thanks guys! I need to get back into projects like this. I put a lot of time and work into the tire carrier and I'm pretty happy with the results. It's nice when I can focus on one project at a time and not have to build a whole jeep if you know what I mean lol. It allows me to focus on the details more and turn out better product.

love the way that it turned out. it gives you the ability to inspect any part of the tire while its on the carrier. its hard to inspect the bottom(tread area) of a tire on the typical swing out or stock carriers w/o getting on the ground or having to deal with using a flash light to look up at it

Looks great. Similar to what I have been thinking. Can you make another one?

Maybe look into mounting a cordless impact to zip those lugs off at a pit stop. Came out great!

I wouldn't be opposed to making another. Without a fixture table it might be difficult to build one exactly to your specifications though unless I have your Jeep in front of me. If you would like to talk about it you can PM me.

Trust me, a nice cordless impact and mount is on the list. I have so many other things to worry about before I spend $200-300 on a tool to make tire changes faster. For now I'll spend the extra 30 seconds to wrench them off and save my money (or should I say, spend my money on other things )

I checked my local hardware store for the Loctite green or Permatex equivalent and they didn't have it. I'm sure I could have found it if I went out of town but after seeing all the big teams weld the caps and ears, even on chromo shafts and CTMs, I decided to just go ahead and tack the caps to keep them from spinning.

Just a light and small TIG bead on them. I hardly heated them up and then cooled them immediately. Feels just as smooth as before but now the cap won't spin.

Reassembled the front end and pulled it out of the garage. It's starting to look like a race car now (that's important, right Jay? )
