I got a little time this afternoon to put the oil pan, oil adapter, and crank pulley on. (Pic before crank pulley)

I took the day off of work, and made some significant progress. Items of interest are:

-York 210 (10 cubic inch) air conditioner pump (top left). Will be used for on board air.
-Delco cs144 alternator for 140 amps of power (top right). Should be a nice upgrade from 105 amps and hold up to a winch nicely

For anyone interested in the inner workings of the SM465, refer to the photo below:



This is before I rebuilt it. Third gear on the countershaft was slid to the left to facilitate removal from the case. Normally it goes right up against 2nd gear.

Quick update - no luck still on the pilot bearing, but the adapter plate came in from Novak today.

I finally got that annoying pilot bearing out. Guess luck was just on my side today - I gave it another try with the slide hammer from Auto Zone and it came right out.

Did some serious work on the Jeep today.

First was installing the transmission on the engine:


Then it was on to the Jeep:

Dont know how far you are on your install, but when I did mine the distributor was really close to the firewall making it difficult to remove the cap.

I went with a Unilite solid state dist. I gained about 1-2 inches clearance.

Your going to like it.

I have over 110,000 miles on my SBC since I put it in and still runs great.

Hope you ported and polished the heads and intake before you assemble them.
