The symptoms of the problem are inconsistent and I can't hold it against them for wanting to drive it for awhile so they can see exactly what it does.

Hopefully nothing too complicated or expensive.

Alrighty, goodish news.

Called me back just now, and said he pulled the pan, looked like there were some very fine shavings in there but nothing alarming. Also said that the case by the governor was a bit rough, something about that. Said some parts of the valve body were sticking too maybe because of the debris?

He's replacing the governor with a good used one he has, installing a governor filter, put an in-line filter on the thing, but other than that said it looks like I did a good job, and everything seemed fine with the rest of the transmission.

Hopefully this'll solve the problem and I'll be back on the road. I should have her back monday morning.

Nice build, I almost bought a Waggy but ended up with a YJ instead.

Good luck with the tranny, I hope this fixes it for you.

Son of a B...just when we thought we were nearing the end.

They bolted it back together, got it warmed up, and it was acting funny. air checked it while it was warm and it was leaking through the center support holes.

trans comes out of the truck tomorrow, this sucks. There goes the good news...

That sucks righteous balls. I still think you've done a tip top job of getting this thing back on the road and tackling the transmission was tough I'm sure. I remember how nervous I was when I installed my first set of gears in my axles. I was just waiting for them to eat themselves. Thankfully they never did.

Let us know how it turns out.

So, one of the sealing rings had slipped out of the groove and caused the leakage issue, and also some of the center friction plates were burnt up because apparently one of them seated wrong when i put it all together and kinda mushroomed out and was sticking from time to time.

Also, seems like the torque converter I got from checker was crap, he said the splines on the stator were stripped out about half way, looked like it was old essentially, not that I put it together wrong or anything. so its looking like 1 or 2 small issues have caused the big overall problems I was seeing. Torque converter wasnt malfunctioning, but it was in bad shape even though it was brand new.
