Thats a best picture i got right now i stated that i gained 8 inches of clearance which is right but i was using a trans am tank that had a banana shape to it and was quite bulky
there is only like 2 inch gain over oryginal fuel tank. Picture here shows rear cross member cut out and ready for 6" c chanel to be welded in ( bottom of a cchan overhangs bottom of fuel tank by 3/4 " all i need now is armor plate.
Me and my good welder friend Josh from AFT services are debating what to use . My plan is to make total turtle shell underneath closing and securing entire underbody but we still choosing what to use for materials so far we had it narrowed to 1/2" aluminum plate or 3/16 AR steal plate got to do some research on weight and strenght issues..
When it comes to handling i made few improvements and right now you can actually call it a wrangler not a strangler
i did installed a 4 degree caster shims added more toe in to about 1/2" from front to rear and replaced stearing box with ford f 350 unit repacked all tirerods and baljoints . Now i can ride 80 mph with my pinki
but off line torque steer is still an issue. i got 4l60e thats ready to go in just waiting for a new ecm programmed to run automatic to do it , i think that will eliminate alot of torque steer issues due to constant torq apliement instead relasing twist load in a frame and suspension everytime gear is changed.69
