First time I got pulled from the rear, it gave the rear bumper a nice angle. It sits at about 30-45* outwards now.

So, really lookin' into gettin' somethin' good. You pull out from the rear yet? I hear Smitty doesn't have the best reputation for making good products.

I wouldn't recommend getting a Smittybilt. I'd recommend getting one from BESRK in the CJ forum. When I bought the one I had I understood what I was getting and determined that I would modify it to make it work for me. So I put the latch on there and I also replaced the bolts going through the rear cross member with grade 8's. I ended up drilling at tapping the bumper for 7/16"-14 TPI. So as of now it has 10 grade 8 bolts holding it on. Two on the bottom to the frame and 8 through the cross member. I also made backing plates for the cross member that are 3/8" thick. I didn't use the small 1/4" ones.

Oh yeah, I've pulled out with the rear bumper and jacked the jeep up with my hi-lift on it.

Getting more done today. I got my dropped pitman arm off and put the stock one on. I had to get the heavy duty puller from Autozone. It was beef and I also got the stabilizer out of the tie rod. Not sure why I took it off since they are both junk. I guess I wanted to make the most use out of the $90 puller I rented. I also got a good shot of how bent the drag link is.

More progress.

I got the old rod ends off the used tie rod, cleaned them up and stuck them on my new tie rod. Pure beef. Speaking of that, the old slightly bent tie rod I also got was a solid rod that was drilled and tapped. Soon I'm going to work on the drag link once the sun goes down. My deck faces the West and the sun comes right in and makes it feel like an oven when I'm out there.

I still crack up when I see all this in an apartment. It's similar to the guy who kept his 8.8 in his bedroom closet.

My dad had polished and revalved 396 cylinder heads under his bed back in the 70's when he had his Chevelle Supersport. I guess I get it honest. Though I kept my jeep longer. He wrapped his ride around a telephone pole.

Rather surprised that I've never posted in this thread before.

Listen, if I had the money, I would totally do it. So, who's the bigger nerd? The one who did it or the one who wants to do it but hasn't?

The one who has nearly completed Season 1 of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Netflix as of last night...that would be me.
