While waiting for my front lower arms to come in from Metalcloak, I decided to do some routine maintenance and change out my transmission oil. I was originally set on MT-90, as it comes highly recommended from many respectable forum members, but at $16 a pop, I opted for some 10w-30 that O'Reilly had on special for $5/quart.

Now I'm guessing the previous owner never changed the oil, or hadn't done it for a vary long time, as the oil came out looking like thick coffee an was the WORST smelling this I've ever encountered...



Armed with a trusty hand pump, it wasn't all that bad getting the new oil in. I simply kept pumping stuff in their until it began to leak out of the fill hole. Easy!



I took it out for a quick spin and noticed the shifting was quite a bit smoother. Good to know that the little things can make a difference!

Nice man.....also, I managed to snag a couple fresh stock LCA's for you. Next time you come over, they'll be waiting for you if you need them.

I'd highly recommend getting some sort of pump to refill the fluid, unless you decide to pour it in from the shifter. There's little to no room for a funnel at that fill point.

Death wobble is gone!!! (for now...)

Last week I headed over to Imped's place and we got my front LCAs replaced with Metalcloaks arms, and boy are they pretty!



Continuing the running theme of "this **** won't budge", the front most bolt on the passenger side arm was completely seized up. After a little love with the grinding wheel, the nut was off, and the bolt could be knocked out with a hammer.



After that, installation was a breeze. Simply replaced one arm at a time and that was that!



I ran them through their paces on the way home by taking the interstate and then hitting some really awful roads with potholes and the like. No DW! I did notice on the highway that I've got a decent shimmy right around 55mph, which I can only assume is a balance issue since it's so speed specific. The question now is do I put a few bucks into the alignment, when I know I want to replace the tires, or just move 33s to the top of the mod list. Decisions decisions...

Also, realized I meant to say balance, not alignment. Nut kickings are likely still in order...

The stock bolt for the axle side of the track bar is a weird one. I forget the size but I think unlimited05 has a write up on here somewhere about replacing it with a proper sized class 12.9 bolt that actually fits tighter and can handle higher tolerance so you can torque it down better. I did this to my GFs Jeep and it fixed her DW. If it ever comes back PM me and I'll send you one for free. I had to buy them online and it only came in a package of ten.

When are you getting the MC fenders ? Looks like your old ones might fight you .

Whenever I find that envelope full of money

I'm still up in the air on whether or not I'm getting new tires or fenders next. I don't want to let that passenger fender get so bad it starts affecting other panels, but at the same time, I don't want to dump money/effort into getting my current tires to behave on the highway.

We'll see, I've got a boat load of expenses for work this month, so once that check comes back I may be better off
