I'd be wary.... You already have 15" wheels and you can get a set of 4 brand new MTR/Ks for less than 900.

@ treadepot.com they're 210 a pop right now for 35x12.50R15, though in 315/75/16 they're 284 a pop.

Moabs look good so I suppose if you're dead set on them... but 900 seems slightly steep IMO for 4 used tires, because regardless of whatever way he tries to spin it... they're still used.

As a sidenote, blacked out TJ with blacked out Moabs or Canyons should look pretty darn shnazzy. Sounds like you got a good deal on that 02'.

Wow! 35's already? You're not messing around! Used tires scare me, but hey, if the price is a steal, then what the hey!

Ya I've wanted Moabs since my last build, the steel wheels aren't my style anymore. MTRK's in the 15" rim have been backordered since october(at least whenever I have looked) Also finally get free Moabs from my buddy will keep costs low.

Oh ya! Then about two weeks until I order the metalcloaks. In the meantime I'll be chopping the front bumper and repairing the hole in the rear bumper. Last but not least I will remove that TC drop. So ugly...

I am keeping mine for when they come back in style. Kind of like your mom's old bellbottoms.

Can't beat free, but Canyon's are aluminum FWIW, and treadepot has a full stock of the MTR/Ks in both sizes. I just ordered my fifth from them a few days ago. Black Moabs will definitely make it stand out though, though can I ask, are those spacers 1.5"? I'm currently running 1 1/2" on my Canyons for a final BS of 4" and I love the stance.

Either way, it's gonna look good sittin on 35s as I'm sure you already know haha

They are about the same price since you have to pay shipping.

http://www.treadepot.com/shoppingcart.html edie: oops, that link didn't work

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...4944&x=29&y=20

discount tire is saying on backorder. That is where I bought mine from. You may call the tread depot . I can't believe there are some still available if discount doesn't have them.

Here's the way I see it. It doesn't matter if they're 3 months old as much as how many miles are on them. If they only have a couple thousand miles on them, it's probably not a bad deal. Compared to new tires from tire rack, that's 200 off. If you do go check them out, any plugs, patches, or additional damage will be clearly visible. Either way, let us know what you do man!

I'd go new tires, black out the canyons and run the spacers. For $900, new tires makes more sense.

Right, except the fact that you can't warrant used tires and if you tear one up on a trail, you're stuck buying a brand new one anyways.

#LFMF.

I had about 1000 miles on my Kevlars when one decided to spontaneously combust. (Not really, but it separated at the sidewall seam and basically left me stranded.)

I had done some wheeling about 900 miles before this in Colorado but then drove the 800ish miles back to just outside Ft. Worth. The damage wasn't the sort of thing that comes from rocks, but even if it had been, what mattered is that I was essentially 650 miles from the nearest form of "home" with a vehicle on 3 tires.

The extra bit I spent on a new tire and added insurance had a new tire on my Jeep after they located my nearest one. Had it not been for that I'd have been completely SOL, and that was on a practically brand new set of tires.

No number of miles will allow you to determine whether a tire is road worthy or not, and from what I'm reading (may have read it incorrectly, you can clarify OP) it looks like this used set already has a few holes that have been plugged.... leads me to believe they've already been abused a bit (evident also by the light rash on them.) Your call, but 900$ seems to be an expensive gamble when you could spend a tiny bit more and get a new set that would be insured.

Damn I never checked treadepot. Ya I guess I just have always had a crush on Moabs. The spacers are 1.25.. I saw photos of your jeep a long time ago and it was one of the first times I liked how metalcloaks looked.

I went and looked already, no plugs, all tires look great except for that one (small rash, no chunks) He has a truck and the 35's looked too small. I might see if he'll sell the spare that hasn't touched the road...he is giving me the warranty papers with the purchase.
