Made some hokey flares for the fenders and a steering stop so the steering ram has the same stroke/ travel as the steering box

Well from Cleghorn, to around Silverwood, Arrowhead, Big Bear and the Hammers
Today I drove the beastie on bald tires to Cleghorn, then 2n17x and after that Dishpan. The darn thing on bald tires still wheels better than my other Jeep on 35's Freaking thing makes the waterfall on dishpan about look like a piece of flat road

Hey Art. Can you post up a few more shots where you straightend the frame in the front. I know you and your buddy both did it. I want to do it on the Dumpster Jeep. I have lots of time to figure it out. But, I need to see how much it raises the front rails where the grille mounts. Any pictures and description will be helpfull.

Thanks

I was looking at your build thread again to read more about your 14 bolt and I noticed that you had a picture of your jeep behind a nissan frontier. I was wondering if you were still using this to tow and if you were if you were using a Weight distribution hitch.

If not, they are awesome. I used to tow with a V8 toyota 4runner and it made a world of difference using the WD hitch. Heck I notice a big difference towing with and without it on my 3/4 ton suburban even with an empty trailer.

Just throwing it out there.

Ok here goes my bud raised the grille about an inch to a inch and a half. I raised it about that much or close to 2" to get enough uptravel and keep the pumkin from hitting the lower radiator neck. You can straighten the frame if need be and not raise the grille since your Dana 44 has a somewhat smaller pumkin. it all depends on how much uptravel you want. On the bright side of things it's easy to move the grille around so you mess with that after you get the frame straightened and your suspension doing what you want, once that is under control simply stuff the axle against the bump stops and move the grille and radiator so it has clearance.
To get the frame straight you can make 2 cuts in the frame or just cut the frame where it bows down, slit it open fold it up to where that is straight, then weld that back together then either make the next cut to the piece that points up or cut it off and make a new front frame piece which is what I did. I stayed with the stock frame length, just moved the steering box as far forward and up as far as it could while maintaining decent angle on the steering shaft I think I moved the steering box 5-6 forward and the front axle moved forward about 7"

Doing this really opens things up under the front and makes some room for all the steering linkage, allows about as much stretch as you want and leaves enough room for somewhere between 5-7" of uptravel

If you need some particular pics let me know what you need.

Other than the lack of power it tows fine, I have found the sweet spot where the Jeep needs to sit and that way it follows the truck like a charm have had it up to 65 with a pretty good side wind blowing and no funny behavior of the trailer behind the truck
