Lil Green Bean

Having received so many PM's about my setup, I figured it is time to put some documentation out there. I'll continue to add to this as I have time.

FAQ section:
#1 Where did you get the B3.3 engine?
Ebay! I bought two from an equipment salvage place in NC. They come in a variety of industrial equipment, including skid steers, excavators, power units, water pumps, gensets, etc.
#2 What kind of mileage?
Highest I've calculated is 27mpg on 37" mud terrains at 70mph. Typical is 20-25mpg depending on setup.
#3 What's the horsepower/torque?
My engine was rated at 85hp/220 ft-lb stock. I've since added a different turbo, injector and pump work. 300ftlb is not difficult to achieve.
More to be added at a later date.

Here's how it all started...

This is actually my 5th Jeep build, and going into it I knew what I wanted: LCG, 37's, street friendly, and fuel efficient.

Here's the final specs:
1997 Wrangler 2.5L/AX5 base vehicle
Cummins B3.3T 4cyl diesel
NSG370 6spd
NV241OR Tcase
Ford 8.8 Rear/Detroit/4.10
Rubi 44 front/tube seals/TEN shafts
Rear BTF leaf spring kit with OME Medium XJ springs + one
Front radius arm setup - RE arms, Poly bracketry
Bilstein 5125 12" 255/70 all four corners
Genright armor... everywhere
37" KM2 on WE locks
Poison Spyder Comp cage
Sniper Fab front bumper
BTF rear bumper
Warn 9.5Ti
Custom rear swing-away, body mounted

And so it began... and the pile of parts started to grow:

Enough of the bolt-on crap. On to the fabrication! For the rear suspension I'm using a Blue Torch rear crossmember with RuffStuff 8.8 swap kit components. The leaf spring swap accomplishes a couple things:
1.) Adjustable 6-9" WB stretch
2.) Easy ride height and spring rate adjustments (add a leaf, lose a leaf)
3.) Side hill stability

And no, I'm not going to argue with anyone about leaf vs. 4-link vs. tri-link vs. your grandma's best buddie's trailing arm setup. This works for me and I like it....

For the shackle angle, I ended up targeting 45. Steeper angles cause a rough ride (spring rate increases) and lesser angles cause a mushy feeling in the corners due to the associated decrease in spring rate.

A quick trip to the junkyard yielded the perfect intercooler for the diesel swap. This is a Volvo 740i station wagon IC. Dimension-wise it's near perfect for the stack up in the TJ grill.

Yep, those are the new HD Genright shackles

yeah, she's gonna have a little grocery getter in her

Just had to bolt the new meat on and look at the stance. Remember the tubes will actually be 3" higher than the lower hood line, but to get a level stance I used 3" AEV springs in the front.

Rear Currie 4" coils - 190 shipped. (They've been sitting in the back of my Jeep for mock up but won't work out for me.)

Hornblasters Shocker S4 horn set with some extras $210 shipped. (It is not OBA, just an accessory for OBA)

"LCOG" isn't cheap and it certainly isn't easy. If you think so, you are doing it wrong. If you aren't willing to put in the effort, don't label your build "LCOG". You are just a cheap ******bag.
