Armor!....... If you smash your rear bumper or tub you can still get home, if you smash a diff, oil pan or gas tanks your screwed. It isn't as glamourous as a lift or rear bumper but it will get you back home.
Suhwheet! Go with armor next (where are the bigger tires!?) which is actually useful 99% of the time where heavier bumpers are useful maybe 1% of the time.

Yeah, armor will be next. I need to get something with rock rails so the midget wife (5'2") can get in the darn thing. Tires will be in there somewhere but I've only got 2700 miles on these. The plan is 33's. Just gotta figure which ones. To be honest I'm doing the axles/gears/lockers some time around March next year so the diff protection will wait until then. No rocks crawling until then.

PS Thanks for answering all my PMs Jerry
OK since the tires are almost new, you can sell them and get most of your czash back out of them. Becouse that poor poor lonley Jeep needs tires worse than your wife needs side steps. I know, I had a customer that had a big van that was too tall for her so she made a small step out of wood with a string on it. So when she got in she pulled the step in the van, probably $5. Now that $ canalso go twards tires, see where i'm going here.
Lets start working smarter not harder
it needed emissions and the dyno thing doesnt allow tires bigger then 33's and we had just sold the 30's. So I borrowed the tires from a buddy (205/75/15's or something like that) and thought it would be funny to put all 4 on instead of just the backs
some people think that 33s are too small for a 4.5 i disagree. i put the 4.5 short arm and ran 33s. waiting to spend money on 35s but in the mean time i wanted a better driveline angle. i got a MML and a JKS 1.25 BL. still runnin 33s. everyone that compliments me on my jeep says it looks perfect with that size tire. im still going 35 but thats only becuase i have the BL in. if i has stayed with 4.5 id rock the 33s till the cows came home. heres a look http://www.cardomain.com/ride/842234

I run 4-5" of lift with 40's....extending you bumpstops does not kill travel just up, not droop. I have 3" up travel in the front and use up all of my 16" travel shocks
   And I have been grunting and moaning trying to get bigger tires for mine because I think the 31's look small! I will shut up now.

HUH? I'm not too sure that makes sense. I'm not worried about droop. When crossed up and one side is stuffed and the other is drooping down. If I extend the BS, then the stuffed tire will not be allowed to go as high into the fenderwell. This is limiting OVERALL wheel travel. If i ran 35s, then I would have to limit my wheel travel upwards to keep from wadding up the fenders. Did I miis something??
Your one tire may not be able to go further into the wheel well, but the other tire has no restrictions on droop aside from suspension bind and shock travel. It can drop down as far as the shocks allow. All it effects is your location in the obstacle, you're going to be further over to one side rather than right down the middle. Just remember the axle center is not in a fixed location, it can still move up and down as well as tilt from side to side.
