I made a topless road trip down to the Vail area today to pick up a full size spare tire and wheel. It's a Pro Comp Mud Terrain with decent tread and it's already mounted on a wheel that matches mine. I'm happy with it...should suit my needs if I ever have to use it.

First picture is the 30" that it replaced.
Second is the new tire/wheel.

Nice Jeep! Gives me more inspiration to run 35's on that setup...

I'm on 33s with 2" extended bumpstops in the rear and none in the front. I rub just a little. With bump-stops in the front, I could too!

Yes two comments commin your way.

1 I am jealous of the moab pics. I was there two times this summer and both times the jeep was on the lift for the latest build. We had fun with the utv rental but you had more fun driving your jeep.

2 looking at where you are in your build, If i had to do all mine over, i would have done the tube fenders/or hyline fenders first then the axles, LA, and such. and your small body lift will prove very useful for maintenance with a high-clearance or aftermarket belly pan.

Looking clean lookin forward to seeing your next mods.

So I think I've come around to deciding a possible "master build plan". I've been doing some serious...SERIOUS drooling browsing the Rokmen site...I might consider moving up to 35s eventually and running the same or slightly less lift than I am right now. I think 4.88 gears, some 35s and tube fenders or hilines might have to be in my future. Right now I've got 33s and 4.10s and to be completely honest, I'm relatively content. Anyone with a 2.5l go from 33s/4.10s to 35s/4.88s? Is it comparable? I'm thinking out loud....But how could I resist after drooling at this thing?

Kyle, I have 4.88 and 35s. It is comparable to when I had 4.10s & 32s. The 2.5l will always be under powered. But it is plenty of engine for that combination. I would definitely go with 4.88 and nothing less if your running 35s with the 2.5.

I appreciate the opinion! I ultimately want 35s but don't quite have the nohow for a waggy 44 front and rear swap or anything like that.

I have friend running 4.88 for about 8 years now on his YJHP30/D35 locked. You can easily run a HPd30 of LPd30 with 4.88. I would check into a 8.8 or D44 rear. Alot of the things you read online will just steer you way over budget and most people will never really need anything bigger than that. Look around if you have not already. Idaho runs a Lp30/D44,Sean has been wheeling a hp30/d44 for 7 years. Nothing failing but a unit bearing after 70k. Just saying.

I appreciate the input. I probably wont be rushing into anything, but what I need to decide is whether or not It will be locked in the rear. I think the future plans are between a c clip eliminated open rear, an S35 rear, or an 8.8. I'm leaning more toward keeping the 35...but I have plenty of time to decide. Either way the Jeep will eventually be geared to 4.88.

Thanks for the spare man! It fits nicely. You get a full size spare for your new MT/Rs?

No problem! Nope still looking for a 35 for a spare...I have a 37 spare on there right now...but it is a little too big.

I have some HP D30 4.56 gears in the garage. Just have to save up for lockers, HP housing and Rear gears.
